B&H has a 1200mm lens they are selling. you should be able to get close to most birds with it.

With a 1200 mm lens, you should be able to photograph the bird's teeth. ;)

A few sunsets from the archives! Hope you like them!

Great captures, Stef.. In my neck of the woods, two of our local TV stations encourage the viewers to submit photos that they have taken to be displayed during the news broadcasts. Many beautiful photos are displayed daily, mostly by amateurs. It is not uncommon to see multiple pics of sunrises and sunsets that our creator paints across the sky minute by minute . However, beautiful sky colors in and of themselves are innocuous without the addition of some land formations or seascapes to put the photo into a scene that is worth sharing with others. Thanks for sharing your works of art, Stef. They moved me.

One from this morning visit to the metro park.

Beautiful shot of my name-sake. The name Czapla in Polish means "Great Blue Heron".

Being a rookie sure doesn't help me. Not long after I get a wonderful camera, I'm already starting to dream about better lenses than the kit lenses that came with it - and I haven't even mastered the camera and learned enough about taking good photos. If that isn't a bad case of GAS, I don't know what would be. Until... I order David Busch's book on the Nikon D5500, which model I have. I'm accidentally sent the book on the D7200! Now I start thinking "fate" may be telling me to get the D7200! Now, I've come to realize that GAS can turn into insanity!
Being a rookie sure doesn't help me. Not long aft... (show quote)

CathyAnn, since the D7100 is so much less, and has most of the bells & whistles, maybe you should consider that instead of the D7200. You could still use the manual, just ignore the chapters on articulated screen and wifi.

Thanks, CO. I guess that being a "rookie" doesn't help me any.

So being poor, having a wife that says NO to everything I guess a D5 was out of the question. But I just happen to have some black paint and a D5200 A few seconds later it was converted into a D5 ... May not work quite as good , may not be as fast
but Im sure someone down the line will look at it and go gee I wish I had one of those.

so my GAS has been taken care of for today. Im on my way out now with my new D5 can't wait to try it out....(smile)

I don't get the "GAS" part.

I have a Canon 60D , which i really like. I am looking for a Point and shoot for occasional use. I would like one with IS (comparable to the Canon) also a view finder, capable of Raw format. Around 50-60 zoom.
Is there something out there like this? I know I am asking for alot. I may have to give up on some of my ideas.
TIA for any ideas you all may have for me.

Mary Ann

Using flash would be difficult because subject distance will keep changing, output might still be insufficient or unreliable and lighting will be uneven.

What is more important is that the flash will, at a minimum, be distracting to the players and others in the audience.

I would not recommend flash for sports.

Thanks, Selmslie!
