I used Photoshop Elements to extract the horse. Filled in the background and put the horse back into the photo.

The canon sx30 had a 35x optical lens and a 4 times digital. In the properties file I read, in 35 mm film 3511.75 mm. It is 35 times 4 converted to 35mm film. I was in auto mode, and it set the camera at 1/1000, f5.8 and ISO 100. I was using a tripod because I was testing the camera. I shot about 100 shots that day and even the hand held shots were clear at 35x. I travel a lot and don't like to carry extra lenses.

I tested the canon sx30is and took this bird at full optical plus full digital or 3512 mm. I didn't buy it because I wanted to shoot in RAW mode.
