I do a lot of shooting while traveling, so for each day, I might have 350 RAW photos (and an equal number of JPGs.) When I get home, I import one day at a time into Lightroom and work with them, then export the good ones as JPGs into a folder called "From Lightroom" to differentiate them from the ones straight from the camera. What makes LR so easy to use is that I can see each shot and decide whether I like it or not. I simply "flag" the good ones, and then when I have gone through all of them, I just export the flagged ones. LR has easy-to-use sliders for various adjustments, but it doesn't actually change the RAW files, just keeps track of the changes in a "catalog" file. It's best for adjustments to the entire shot. Then you can modify specific parts of the photo with PSE. LS is only about $100.

In the Library Module (top center/right of screen) LR provides a Grid View that shows the thumbnails of the photos in a grid fashion. The grid can be small, with lots of images, or, larger, with fewer images. This is adjustable by you... Just go with one that you like, then you can quickly preview the images and delete as you see fit. And, if the images are part of a collection, you can just delete them from the Collection, not from the computer, if you want.

As you cull the list, you can also tag the images with markers so that you can sort them later. Keywords can also be very helpful for later finding or sorting the images.

LR has a very powerful indexing function. You will love it once you use it.... :thumbup:

Yes, LR will convert and use all of your current stacks, sets, albums, star ratings, key word tags etc. It may have different names for them like albums might be called Collections and version sets might be folders. You can download and use it free for 30 days to see. When I installed LR3 (a long time ago) I was also using PSE9. The Organizer in PSE9 had slowed to a crawl and I was hoping that the Library capabilities in LR3 would be faster. I was pleasantly surprised at how it seamlessly integrated all the work I had done in PSE into LR. (Organizer = Library in LR) Also, LR isn't quite as kwerky as PSE's Organizer. I always figured out how to fix the kwerks in PSE Organizer, but it always kind of put me off every time something happened that I couldn't really understand why.
