A very good shot, Dave. I, too, am curious as to how you got it. I wouldn't have used less than a 150-mm lens and a lot of cropping.

Richard, LarryN, Franku, and Nightski,

Thanks, all. I do appreciate your comments. Also, tried B&W. Here's the results. I think it's an improvement.

Dave and Apaflo,

Thanks for the comments/suggestion. I'm going to give the B&W a try and see how it looks. I did try it in low-contrast color, but didn't care for it. Didn't think to go to B&W.

Oh he's a real person! Oh funny! I thought he was a statue and that she had turned around for some other reason .. great timing Voss! It's even better for me now.

This is great, Voss! It's as if she's looking back to see who gets shot. Love the motion blur. It adds to the idea that she has been surprised by a gunshot.

Thanks. I really do think she was taken by surprise when he grabbed her. And it does add to your thought of a gunshot.

I think he made a joke about her, and she's a little miffed. Nice shot.

Thanks for the return visit. As someone who doesn't do much street photography, I am curious to know what you liked about it.

Your question is like, what makes a Boston cream pie good. But I'll try. Overall, I like the off-black tone. The buildings you chose are each worthy of photographing, and you got three in one shot. The sharpness of the photo is good. The fog in the background helps to project a moodiness to the foreground. The empty street (except for the man and the truck) add to the moody feeling. And, of course, the man himself is necessary as a center of interest. This is just a list of separate elements, but put them together and you have a great photo.

I think he wanted to block the shot.

It looks to me like the man everyone was expecting has finally arrived. He's necessary for the composition. I like the photo.

This guy must have a brother in San Francisco. I have seen a strong resemblance just this past fall while there. Good timing and she appears to be very startled. A keeper for sure.
Dave

Thanks, Dave. And she was indeed startled.

Good catch, however I would not anynody pointing a gun at me.

With this one exception, I agree with you.

Interesting catch, you were shooting him and he was just shooting back. :-)

An interesting observation. I hadn't looked at it as self defense.
