My preference for you is to buy Lightroom 6. Learn it and use it for a year. Understand it and then move into Photoshop. Plug ins are programs that work in harmony with LR. I would learn LR first before getting into plugins.
Have fun.
It depends upon what you think your time is worth and what she is willing to pay. I would start at $25.00 an hour.
Check your local library. Mine gives you complete access for all Lynda programs at no charge on your home PC.
It is like which camera is better?
Great image. Like the angle it was photographed at. Make a super note card.
I have used Life Pixel to convert my Nikon D300 and a lens. I found them very helpful via email and telephone answering my questions and giving me suggestions. They also have great tutorials on their website for Post Processing.
If you have a room of 10 people and ask that question, my guess is that 5 would say dng versus and 5 camera raw.
I am a Nikon guy. I use nikon camera raw.
Why?
There are many points that favor dng which you can read about all over the internet and of course on Adobes site. Looking at the many pros and cons of nef vs dng the issue for me has boiled down to these last points which might favor not switching to dng.
1 Nikon has a proprietary algorithm that eliminates chromatic aberration (CA) when using their lenses on a Nikon camera.
2 Nikon has its own proprietary noise reduction.
3 In the future there may be improved technology in the software that does the raw conversion on the original Nikon nef's.
4 Saving the files as 16bit tiffs.
I am sure the people who use dng have their argument. Hope that helps.
.
My pleasure. I did wedding photography for many years and used fill flash always.Have fun using it.It does work and makes a world of difference.

I would suggest a Tokina 100mm f/2.8 AT-X. Great Bokeh for portraits. Also, if you decide to get interested in Macro Photography you can use that lens also. About $370
Go with what you feel comfortable with. Go yo a place where you can hold both of them and see which feels right in your hands. They are both great cameras.
I live out of state and just ordered a 1T HD and did not get taxed or service charge? Strange!
