They look more like water color paintings than photographs. Great shots!

I'll admit that some color manipulation was applied ~smile~.

I happen to live not too far from Washington's Palouse. The Palouse is a massive wheat growing area that is comprised of rolling hills with a butte or two thrown in. Both of these were taken from Steptoe Butte.

so i went to the local cemetery with my mum today so i thought awesome! photo ops! these are just a couple of the ones that i took. Have never taken pics at a cemetery before so not quite sure how i did! Please critique where needed! Thanks

I love the last one with headstones as background. My only suggestion is that in the future, take the time to make sure your composition is the best it can be. In this one, you cut off the feet of your subject. In situations like this where time is not important, bring along a tripod and you'll love the results.

okay, I've posted some of these before, buthere they go again.

I shot the gator with my small P&S while the boat was moving. He was not a very co-operative subject. Nor was my husband a good boat driver.

That looks like a very large gator...I don't think I'd want to hang around him too long but I love the image. I might enlarge and then crop the kitten picture to eliminate the light in the bg and to zero in on the kitten's face and fish. That's a really cool shot...

This may not be my best wild life photo but it's one of my favorites. The doe is wet from dew on the grass and wildflowers.

It's not what's in the picture - it's how it's captured. Pretty pansies, Bob! I always use post processing. I usually do a noise reduction - correct for tone and exposure. I don't remember a picture that I've posted anywhere that hasn't been touched up. I have Photoshop with quite a few Topaz add ons.

Not all flower pictures need to be closeups...

To Laura: you now know when not to shoot! Don't be afraid to clear out dead wood or any extraneous material before shooting. You aren't trying to take a snapshot - you are aiming for something artistic.

Thank you for the warm welcome. In answer to the lens question: I use a Nikon 105 VR (vibration reduction) and sometimes a monopod but usually it's hand held.

I've got more ~smile~. I usually reject flowers not at their best but the lighting for Lily was too good to pass up.

When I decide it's time to take some flower pictures, I try to get out early...or late. It's so much easier to shoot in the shade and either morning or evening has such lovely light. If need be, I create shade with my body but I really prefer not to shoot in the sun.
