It’s north of Quito so not far. Worth looking into.

Good move leaving the big Sigma. I have a Tamron 150-600, but never use it for long trips. I’ve just got an 80-400 g vr and am v pleased with it. Just about the right size for travel. Not the reach of the 600, but I’m really pleased with the results so far

No way would I take the big Sigma. Agree with the other posts. You would not want to lug that beast around at altitude for too long. The 28-300 should serve you fine. We found that Peru is about the spectacular scenery. Go to the Cloud Forest in Ecuador if you want birds.

Drive the North Coast 500. The route runs around the coast of Scotland. Fantastic route with spectacular scenery and lots of wildlife. Just keep your fingers crossed with the weather.

I shoot M using auto ISO with a target shutter speed of 1/2000 at f8.

Works for me(most of the time).

Last week I tried doing some bird photography. While I didn’t fail miserably my results were not as good as a lot of my other work

Used a Nikon D7500 with my Tamron 18-400 lens. Most shots in Aperture priority mode. A bright sunny day.

I think my dissatisfaction was result of not best settings for ISO, Auto Focus Mode, Area, Exposure Matrix, Single Shot, Continuous, etc.

Any suggestions on best baseline settings for this. I realize that they will vary depending on subject, light, distance, etc. But what would settings be a good place to start.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
