Great responses - anyone sharing a secret sauce for cleaning? Zeiss wipes seem to be a favorite...

How do you choose between the Leica and Canon? What determines your choice and why not just pick one and stick with it? Just curious. Have Canon, but now always choose my Leica M-P Typ 240 (28, 50, 90).

I have very good glass and want to be extremely careful with my lenses and do everything I can to keep them in great shape. I have seen many articles that suggest lens cloths and wiping them in a circular direction; use an air bulb (like Giotto sp?) instead of compressed air from a can, etc. What do the very knowledgeable UHHers - those that have anal tendencies with their lenses (don't go there, please) - do to clean their lenses? Do you clean less than the average photographer? Do you use Q tips? Do you use any solvents? Do you use distilled water? Do you clean after every shoot? Do you not worry about a little film or dust on a small portion of the lens. Are you a neatnik when it comes to your lenses? Is the whole lens cleaning thing just blown out of all proportion? What are your secret tricks for lens cleanliness? Are all lens cloths created equal? I am not talking about extreme cases like dropping a lens face down in mud or cement or in WD-40 - just normal use and the effects of everyday use on the lens. All serious replies appreciated.

I have a very good glass and have heard conflicting views on the value of filters to protect lenses. This is N O T a question of the value of filters in creating certain effects or enhancing certain features, or even eliminating glare, etc. It is ONLY speaking to the normal, general, everyday use if filters for lens protection. What are the pros and cons and do professionals use them when there is no aesthetic requirement. Thanks so much - and I apologize in advance if this subject has been beat to death before. Folkus. ( I don't regularly shoot in salt water waves on in Saharan dust storms...)

Can LR reverse a slide that was digitized backwards? This is not a question of turning it around clockwise or counterclockwise - this is truely inverted. Not only are the signs shown spelled backwards (sdrawkcab) but the sense of balanced composution is all distorted. Do I have to hunt through several thousand slides and do it over correctly, or is there a remedy in LR or some other program that fixes this? Thanks for your help.

Is the amount of light entering the camera the same for 28mm, 50mm, and 90mm if each is set at F/2 and all other factors are the same? Thanks.

Do these reviews address the DOF aspects? I was not aware that they did. I am sorry if this has deteriorated into a "controvery". it was my intention to present the question and have the pros and cons presented for all of our edification. I am primarily interested in the DOF sharpness as it relates to aperture settings. Remember the Fallen today...
