Good advice. I visit Kenrockeell.com almost weekly. But get this. I wrote him a personal email regarding two different Mikons and a long telephoto lens. He wrote back. Told me to dump my Nikon and lenses and buy Canon. LOL

Not taking you to task at all. Yes read it. I'm a pro video integrater and sell four or five million a year. Mostly Sony and mostly to churches. Sell b-stock or refurb all the time.

I'm sure he will make the correct decision.

Nothing wrong with factory refurb. At least it been through QC. New ones maybe will have an issue. This way he can spend money on good glass. My first Nikon DSLR D5100 kit with two lenses which I ended up giving to my son when I bought my D500.

I have purchased refurbish from this place. The D7100 and D7200 is a good price. Then purchase a refurbish good lens.

D7200 is a great camera. If I was buying one, I'd purchase a refurb body then purchase a refurb lens that is good for portraits. The reason I say that is for the price of the Costco kit you might be able to purchase a refurb D500 body but then you need to purchase a lens. You could rent a few lenses to help you figure out which lens is best for you. One practical lens that is low cost but good is the 35mm. It's fast works great in low light. New $195. I bought used for $150. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-D500-Digital-SLR-Camera-20-9MP-DX-Format-Body-Brand-New-/182280568952?hash=item2a70c4c078:g:sv0AAOSwSlBYx0Mo

I would not try to move pics from your D500 to your apple phone on the field unless you have a number of extra batteries or at least a battery grip. When using the BT or WiFi option the D500 drains the battery FAST. What I would do if I did not have a computer with me, is at night I'd plug the camera into an external power to move pictures when you have the power and the time. In the mean time, I keep my camera in airplane mode to help from draining the battery. The BT/Wifi aspect is the one disappointment but over all the camera is great. I had a Nikon D7200. The WiFi feature worked a lot better on that camera and the battery life was much longer. I prefer the settings on the D500 and how simple it operates and overall I'm very happy with the D500.
