Pictures #1 and #2 are shots of a Tufted Titmouse. I'm not sure what the bird is in picture #3.

I really like the first picture with the picnic table next to the large tree.

Wow. Hornets are beautiful... who knew!? ;)
Fab photo!

(and now I know the secret to successfully hosting hummers, 'cause the bees and wasps always chased them away :( Thanks! )

We use a lid from a jar and put sugar water in it to attract the hornets. The secret is to make the solution much sweeter than what you put in your hummingbird feeder.

that is so neat! I would be too scared to get that close... what kind of lense did you use?

The scariest thing I have ever experienced was my first jump out of a plane. I'm guessing from your avatar that you did it too. Watching a hornet through a lens is tame compared to that moment.

Very nice photo. It's surprising how easy it is to get close to bees and wasps while they're busy pollinating flowers. They're not looking for trouble, and - as long as you're quiet and move slowly and deliberately without waving your arms around in alarm - they're perfectly unconcerned if you get fairly close to them. (I speak from photographic experience here - plus I used to be an exterminator and have had plenty of experience with the the types of actions that really do upset wasps.) :-)

He had just finished a meal at a feed station I put out to keep them away from the hummingbird feeders. He gave me about two minutes of photo op before he flew off. Thank you for the compliment.
