Very nice series. I love the Cockatoo! What a beauty - look like it might be a Triton.

Thank you - I don't know enough about cockatoos to know, didn't see a sign, but he was a beauty! Would have liked a green or blue background but still was pleased ;)

It looks excellent and I would say that's how it's supposed to look, especially if that's what you wanted. You stopped the flow almost dead.

This is the proof that zoo pictures work well if they are shot with forethought. Great set.

Thank you Bill! The Nashville Zoo is pretty wonderful really - all natural habitats - makes for great background shots too.

All beautiful shots! Love the color of the flamingo.

They were incredibly easy to shoot (have quite a few good shots from these). Wish I had a video of them dancing and moving their heads back and forth, quite funny!

The female cardinal is perfection - love the composition, color & background! All are beautiful but I keep getting drawn back to that one ;)

Great shots. The last one looks like real water, great capture.

Thanks - I was looking at that one and second guessing myself...."is that how it is supposed to look?" I don't know if it can be improved post processing or not but haven't had much experience with that.

Great set! When the light is good the inexpensive lens can perform very well as your photos reveal!

Yes! The day was slightly overcast with only the occasional bright sun spots in between - perfect. But I was still pleasantly surprised with the lens (and my new camera;)

This is not a bad series of Zoo photographs and I particularly
like the composition of the Giraffe.

Thank you so much - He was an unusually dull colored giraffe so I was pleased to get this shot.

I don't normally like zoo pics. These, however, are nicely composed and well taken. Good job.

Thank you so much! I know what you mean about zoo pics but it is a great place to practice for beginners like me ;)

I started with the same two lenses you have and they did a good job. Getting lenses with a new camera is the most economical way! I lived in Bradenton for several years and used to go to Anna Maria a lot. We fished in Palma Sola Bay and I had a great time photographing Pelicans out there. I posted a number of series from the Ringling Museum a few month ago. That is a great area over there!

Okay, just looked at your pics from Sarasota and Ringling - Now I'm REALLY homesick thank you very much! Loved the pink hue hallway pic by the way at Ringling -really great composition and tone.

Thank you for the nice comment. I agree that they are special birds. These were shot with the AF-S Nikkor 70-300 VR lens. I have always had good results with this lens. It does a good job and is not overly heavy.

Very nice - I thought about getting the "body only" on my Nikon and getting this lens separately but the price of the kit made the 18-55 & 55-200 at only $100 each so I felt I couldn't lose. I will hone my skills and save up for the longer zoom. By the way, I am from Anna Maria Island, FL and your pics make me homesick lol.
