Thanks Annie.

They are kind of shy and don't take direction well. :D

Suspect the 1st is a Hairy Woodpecker & the 2nd is a Downy Woodpecker. It's hard to tell them apart other than size.

The beak is longer on the Hairy.

The first woodpecker is about 9 inches tall; the second is about 6 inches.

Kind of like Arnold and Danny in twins.

300mm 2.8 VR II w/TC14E II, Induro CLT403 carbon tripod and Whimberly gimbal.

Huge crop.

DUH! Wrong camera. Please disregard the previous reply.
It was the D810 with 180 3.5 Tamron on an aluminum tripod and ball head. It is a huge crop.

I have been using both cameras and dumping the files into the same folder. Sorry for the mis-information and confusion.

Do birds get red eye or is that the natural color.

I see it on some birds but I believe its the natural for Red-bellied Woodpeckers.

Looks like you got in pretty close with minimal cropping (IMHO).

Actually the opposite. It was a huge crop; 823x1029 from 7360x4912.
