Wonderful result! Looks like a caldron of fire.

Sometimes you get interesting results when the subject you went to shoot isn't available, eh? 😉

To my way of thinking (and you should know that no one ever accused me of thinking conventionally), If one were trying to show the interesting and great bokeh of a lens that one would do so by taking a photo with an obvious subject, with a wonderful bokeh background in it, as this is the natural way one is going to use the lens anyway.

I hope you don’t interpret my comments as being too harsh, as I’m simply wondering why a normal photo with a subject wasn’t the proper way to display great bokeh.

Not harsh at all and you're probably correct, but I was given the lens for about 30 secs with the adapter, pointed it into the woods, cranked focus as close as possible at f/2.8 and recorded the resulting image only to inspect bokeh, not to create an image of any particular interest. The lens was then given back and another 3 lenses were tested the same way. I happened to find the particular result interesting from a bokeh point of view.......Is what it is as they say....

The only reason that makes any sense to me is #2. Yes, DSLRs are still cameras, but that doesn't mean you can't buy a different format. It seems like he has five very weak reasons here. "...We Are in Present." True, and we will always be living in the present.

I agree with you and disagree with all 5 of the reasons. I've saved almost 5 lbs in my backpack switching from a Nikon D800 system to a Sony a7rIII system (body and 4 lenses, all Sony). Sony has figured out a way to reduce the weight of most of it's equivalent full frame lenses and still maintain high quality. No lenses are missing until you pass 400mm and those are on the immediate horizon. The ergonomics of the a7rIII are just fine with me thank you and I have large/fat hands. Finally, the end results I'm getting with the Sony system are surpassing my old D800 system and are at least equivalent to the D850 so assume the Z line as well.

Nikon didn't spend all that dough trying to catch up with Sony mirrorless just for fun. It's where the future (and present for many) is...
