“Manual” is strictly for where you have time to set up ISO, aperture, and shutter speed in a controlled environment such as in a studio. Manual mode is the worse mode to use in the field.

Aperture Priority is where you preset your aperture for desired depth of field, preset your ISO one time and your shutter speed constantly changes as the ambient light changes. If you are shooting landscape, preset your aperture and shoot away. Your exposure will always be correct despite changing ambient light or shadows. No other adjustments are needed. Most advanced photographers and professional orographers will use this mode for landscapes.

Shutter Priority is where you preset your shutter speed to freeze or blur motion, preset your ISO one time and your aperture constantly changes as the ambient light changes. Your exposure will be correct despite changing light or shadows. No other adjustments are needed. Most advanced photographers and professional photographers will use this mode to freeze sports activities and blur motion such as in flowing water.

You may want to try “P” Mode. This is Program Mode. All you do is preset your ISO to make sure your shutter speed is fast enough for your shooting. “P” mode gives better results and “A’ Automatic Mode.

Your T6 is a fine choice. Most of my students have Canon Rebel series cameras and they do a very good job.
