I would say number one because city folk never see the milky way.

Isn’t that the truth. It’s an incongruous image, but kinda fun

I really like #1, Dick!

Thanks Sue, I think it really adds drama and a sci fi element to the pic. I quite like it myself.

One and then four.Good color and composition balance in both. Good shooting. Don Z.

Thanks Don. The picture turned out great, but what to do with the sky is a big question. I'll probably settle for a clear blue sky with maybe a few puffy white clouds next time I can get a good sky shot locally.

I like 1 but seeing stars in a city is unlikely due to light pollution.

Ya think...LOL. It was a pitch black night, except for the glow of the city lights

Dick, very nice work. In my 40 years of working in downtown Los Angeles I worked in three of the buildings showing in these images and as I'm sure you know, these comps are truly fantasies. You did a nice job of combining images though. Keep practicing. In the right situation, the skills you've demonstrated will be really well suited for the subject matter.

Yes, of course. The sky I actually shot was pitch black. This is me playing around with PS. Here's a fun one....the first Mercedes Gullwing arriving on earth

Thanks so much. I appreciate the positive feedback from you. It's all just for fun, but it does make for an interesting discussion.

The LA Chamber of Commerce would love these beautiful skies. The star shot is one we never could see with all the light pollution.

Sad but true. But it's a nice fantasy. Someone said I should put a light glow over the city and dissolve into the starry sky. I don't know how to do that, but it might be more realistic, although I doubt anyone will ever see the Milky Way over LA unless the Russian hackers turn off our power grid

Nice series. I love the olive oil bottles.

Thanks Dan. That was a particularly difficult shot. In fact, the photographer I was with said I couldn't capture it. It was in a very low light spot and to the naked eye the background and the color off the bottle tops were the same, but in pp I managed got lighten the background to make the bottles pop. I'm happy with it.

Here are four different versions of the LA Skyline with different backgrounds. I'm fairly new to layers, changing backgrounds, etc. in Photoshop, so knowing, when, what and how is a pretty steep learning curve. CC is greatly appreciated and encouraged. Thanks everyone, Dick

I had the good fortune to spend the morning shooting at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market with a world class (read: National Geographic, etc) photographer. I'm pretty happy with the results. Here are a few of the highlights! CC welcome and encouraged. Thanks everyone, Dick
