I'm sure you've noticed this, just as I have. And I'm sure it annoys you as much as it annoys me.

When I'm at an event with a food table - not a meal, but snack food - people get their snacks and then stand in front of the table, talking to someone else. What's the etiquette here? Get very close and stare at them? Push them out of the way? Maybe just say, "Excuse me." "Oh, am I in the way?" Of course, you're in the way, you idiot! You're blocking all the food! Why do you think there is a line of people waiting to get to the table?

The other problem is doorways. Why do people think that a doorway is the perfect spot to hold a conversation? There they are, talking about nonsense, while lines form on either side waiting to get to the food table or the bathroom. "Oh, did you want to get through?" Maybe they're visitors from California, and they habitually stand in doorways in case The Big One hits.
