When I posted something about email here a few days ago, several people said I should try Outlook, so I did. The YouTube directions show the user entering one or more of his email addresses into Outlook. I don't have that on my screen. I can send myself an email, but the rest of my email is on Gmail and RoadRunner.

Someone suggested I try it. I tried it. That's enough for me.

This may be academic, since you have abandoned your quest. I’m guessing that the author of the tutorial was entering their email address in order to login to the system. It appears you have already done this, in order to get to the screen you are at. It looks like the email you’re logging in with is associated with the account name beginning with J and C (I assume your first and last name) which is why you see JC at the very top right corner of your screenshot.

Once you are logged in, there should be no need to enter your email address again, unless you want to cc or bcc yourself.

From where you are at, click on New message (at top left) and compose your message just as you would in gmail.

Outlook.com is a lot easier to work with than Gmail, especially when it comes to adding/deleting/renaming folders/sub folders, etc. I find it’s also a cleaner interface when replying to messages.

Perhaps you might want to give it another shot. Good luck. πŸ‘

The most frustrating thing about Outlook is that the desktop program, and the online program are both called Outlook. Even when you Google a question about outlook.com, you end up with a lot of search results that relate to the desktop Outlook.

Wonder what Microsoft was thinking naming both programs Outlook.

Here's what I have -

What were you trying to do?

What you are looking at is a screen that tells you that you have no messages in your inbox.

Click on New Message in the top left to send a message; or send yourself a message from another account, to populate your inbox.

I'm sure you've noticed this, just as I have. And I'm sure it annoys you as much as it annoys me.

When I'm at an event with a food table - not a meal, but snack food - people get their snacks and then stand in front of the table, talking to someone else. What's the etiquette here? Get very close and stare at them? Push them out of the way? Maybe just say, "Excuse me." "Oh, am I in the way?" Of course, you're in the way, you idiot! You're blocking all the food! Why do you think there is a line of people waiting to get to the table?

The other problem is doorways. Why do people think that a doorway is the perfect spot to hold a conversation? There they are, talking about nonsense, while lines form on either side waiting to get to the food table or the bathroom. "Oh, did you want to get through?" Maybe they're visitors from California, and they habitually stand in doorways in case The Big One hits.
I'm sure you've noticed this, just as I have. And... (show quote)

My friends and I were not, as you put it, standing in the doorway talking nonsense. We were discussing the finer points of post processing, the pros and cons of subscription based PP software, and our mutual friend Paul was on his soapbox about mirrorless cameras. It was very rude of you to tell us we were idiots, and to get out of your way. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

QUESTION: How many people does it take to change a lightbulb on UHH?

ANSWER:
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
17 purists who use candles and are offended by light bulb discussions.
6 to argue over whether it's 'lightbulb' or 'light bulb'.
Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid.
22 to tell THOSE 6 to stop being jackasses.
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is 'lamp'.
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that 'light bulb' is perfectly correct.
19 to post that this page is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb page.
11 to defend the posting to this page saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant here.
36 People to post pics of their own light bulbs.
15 People to post "I can't see S$%^!" and use their own light bulbs.
6 to report the post or PM an admin because someone said "fΓ·Γ—$"
4 to say "Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?".
13 to say "Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".
1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that (insert politician of choice) isn't the brightest bulb. This usually takes place within the first three comments.
50 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.
5 admins to ban the light bulb posters who took it all too seriously.
1 late arrival to comment on the original post 6 months later and start it all over again.
QUESTION: How many people does it take to change a... (show quote)

1 idiot with a calculator to point out that that is a total of 245 people to change a lightbulb.
15 people to argue for/against the proposition that it is a clever ploy by the government to reduce unemployment
1 Admin to move the discussion to the attic, because it is now political.
