Just a followup on my 4th experience. i positioned my car with my gear in the trunk at 5am; put a tarp and lawn chair down to mark my spot; waited and pondered the significance of the day; sat through various rainy periods and eventually got quite poor photos. BUT I met an AP photographer and we talked all things photographic to pass the time. It was delightful: lemonade from lemons....
When do the corialis bloom in DC ---after the cherry blossoms?
Thanks, ABJanes - saw it, got it, love it (can't do the Latin any more)
Thanks to all for the helpful guidance and humor - we all can use some of each occassionslly...
Thanks. I bet you had a great time anyway!
Windage is 3 clicks based on the last time i was at the range!
I plan to be at the Netherlands Carillon for the Washington DC fireworks on the 4th. My main focus is the fireworks - about 7,500 ft away. My secondary focus is the Washington Monument - about 10,000 feet away. The third ficus if interest is the Lincoln Memorial - about 5,500 feet away. And the last focal interest is the Capitol - 17,500 feet away. If all works as planned, I will have a pic with, from left to right, the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the Capital all under some fabulous fireworks. Now my question - given the above info, can You determine the best distance to focus to meet these criteria ( Yes, I know the "boots on the ground" answer ) . I'll be shooting either a 2.8 90mm lens or a 2.8 50 mm lens. Thanks for reading this and taking the time to respond. Happy 4th!! π πΊπΈ π
Very much appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks for detailed comments. They are very helpful. Has anyone tried this with fireworks and can show examples? It seems like a kinda fun thing to investigate.....
Is there a role for bracketing in shooting fireworks? How would the UHH pros go about it? What are the pros and cons and things to consider and watch out for? Is it a crazy idea or not? Thanks.
I lived in China Lake and Ridgecrest from 1957-1962. A beautiful area; as are your photos. May this fire be contained quickly and more tragedy averted.
This is exactly what i was looking fir. Thanks.
I can't tell you how many LR books I have looked at trying to just make/save a simple copy of a photo I really like and don't want to hose it up by making changes to the original. Kelby etc., you pick it from Barnes and Noble and I have probably got it. I know it is obvious to many, but not to me. Thanks for a clear quick simple answer. (LR6)
