I spotted him driving so I stopped and tried to sneak up on him, and knowing the skittish big boy might take flight, I set shutter to 1/1600 sec. SS should have been faster, maybe.

Thanks, I believe the reddish spots are normal for the great blue. Every one I've photographed has had a touch of that rust color.
