Tower Crane Removal

Hi….it had rained early on a Friday, but I got a chance to visit the construction site for the "preparation" of the Tower Crane take down. It’s an interesting procedure…taking out vertical sections of the Crane. Large tools are hoisted up in a big metal bin to the Crew members that have already climbed the latter inside the crane sections. This procedure starts as soon as possible after topping-off, pouring final concrete floor. The crane is a major expense in the construction budget. (Earlier, I was on-site for the complicated topping off pour…but the shots remain un-posted as XVI). Anyway….I was lucky enough to watch & photo the (elite) Iron Workers do their thing on the Crane outside and inside through the dirty windows, with spots I couldn’t remove in PP. The next day (Saturday) the Crane arm would be removed....but my "honey do" list got in the way and I wasn't there. So, I abbreviated this visit with mostly a collage format (download looks best)….Thanks

Nice shot, I like street and traveling musicians.

Interesting shot. Another struggle between some great color and enhancing a mood. Lots of stories here.

Good shot Voss, that is a pretty tricky lighting situation. Gotta love the guy with the thick shades in the unlit area :D

An odd scene indeed. B&W is better

That is, there's a reappearance of the featured subject in "Is There a Problem, Officers?". I took that photo on a night shoot in downtown Austin last Friday. The next morning I took this one at the State Capitol prior to a demonstration there. Didn't realize it was the same guy until I edited this photo. Thought it was an interesting coincidence.

Odd coincidence, I like the B&W better.

From what I could see no one was having any fun.

Nice photo work, maybe it is too early in the day for much activity.

I don't usually enter contest but I decided to enter one of my Black & White firefighter images to "Digital Pro Magazine Black & White Photo contest. To my surprise, I won the Grand Prize for the Black & White contest!!! Here is the Black & White image that was chosen as the winner.

Congratulations, well deserved. The download is awesome with the short depth of field and clarity on the subject.

The Mane Man

A couple of nice street shots. That would be a strange way to play chess. I have a hard enough time when I can see the whole board in one view.

Interesting pair of photos. I'm guessing this is 6th St. Austin. The color is quite nice but the B&W fits the mood set off by the banner sign. I have many fond memories of riding for and hour or two to 6th St. on a hot summer night and grooving in the night life and interesting street people.

I have to agree with 47greyfox on the color on this one. Had I not seen the B&W is fine but compared to the color the color wins. Goodness what a name for what appears to be a bar, and the dude in the chair spilled his drink; poor guy.
