The only thing wrong with my Nikon DSLR’s is that they all look more or less alike. I can dig through my toy chest and pull out seven different SLR film cameras of four different brands. There are several different Polaroids, 620 film cameras ranging from bellows to ultra cheap Brownies, Argus, my dad’s Zeiss Ikon, crappy instamatics , etc. None are worth more than the cost of a family meal at Mc Donald’s, but it’s just fun to compare construction, ergonomics and so on. The same reason people go to old car shows. It’s fun.

Oh, one thing about Nikon, I can use any of my old Nikon film lenses on my D7000 and have auto exposure function. Can’t use any of the other film era lenses on modern cameras, even of the same brand.

That's why I got the Nikon Df. Different. More like all of my manual focus film SLRs. Now they have the Zfc, which is even more close in size and thickness to the old film SLRs, but is not full frame.

Color. It makes the picture come alive. In contrast, the B &W looks dead.

I understood your point completely but don't be offended if my opinion differs.

Oh,no! No offense taken. That's why we are here to interchange ideas and learn from others. And if we can be of help to others, the better.

Your obviously mistaken. I've been using cameras and reading camera manuals since 1958 and know quite well what a built-in flash can and can't do. I will never buy a camera with one. Off camera flash is always superior. My opinion and my preference. Enjoy yours.

My comment was about the red-eyes not about what we prefer.

As I said, I also prefer my off camera flash because obviously is far superior.

The point was not to criticize you particularly, but to explain that red-eyes and harshness with a camera's flash can be avoided and/or minimized in those situations where you find yourself in need of a flash and all you have is your on-camera, or you don't feel like carrying gear.

As a nobody neophyte amateur photographer, I click into the tread eager to learn some insights, but as odd as it might be I got so turn off almost immediately, starting by the the dude that initiated the tread.

I read about negative complaints, but it was more than that, to me it was reading about inflated egos with their my way or the highway, but little if anything about Karsh's work.
If anything, I thanks Mr. Shapiro Mr. Malarz, and a few others. Their input on the subject was what was enlightening to me.

Not a fan of Red-eye and never purchase a camera with built in flash.

This is the thing that I can't comprehend: red eyes. Obviously anyone talking about red eyes must not know how to use their built-in flash.

All you have to do is read your camera manual and learn how to reduce the output of the flash, and the use of a diffuser. I have a Lumiquest diffuser just for that purpose. A tiny piece of equipment that you can carry in your shirt pocket. No red eyes, no harsh frontal light on the subject's face.

Granted I prefer the use of my speedlights on a bracket above my camera where I can tilt and swing from horizontal to vertical, but for those instances when I can't be bothered with carrying all that equipment, your built-in camera flash is always ready for you at a moment's notice, and no red eyes.

Silly me! As you say, I can now see plenty of pouches available that look like they would be very secure by searching for pouches instead of carabiners! Search engines are great when you search for the proper term.

I'm glad. Now the fun starts; which one?

This picture shows the ships already in one of the locks, in my days that ship was not entering the canal to be at one of the locks, the ship has been in the canal already. But I think they were expanding and creating new locks. From the picture I can't figure out which side is which anymore. It's been like over 4 decades for me since I last navigated the canal. I think that there's a new lock shortly after entering the canal from the Pacific. I wonder if that what I'm seeing.

I'd like recommendations for a reliable light-weight spring loaded 2" carabiner-type belt loop clip for small camera accessories. American-made preferred. Many I've seen on Amazon have too many poor recommendations because the spring mechanisms break easily.

Carabiners, what kind of contraction are you planing to make to carry photo accessories?

If you check photo stores like, B & H, Adorama, Roberts Camera, etc., you can search for belt pouches. They have so many different configurations for carrying camera accessories that you will have a fun time deciding which one to pick.

Since I'm not a professional photographer that depends on his gear capabilities for his livelihood, I don't care one way or another. I'm still shooting with my film SLRs cameras (some from the 1980s), and I bought my first digital SLR camera in 2017 and to be honest, it doesn't matter to me which camera I use. They all would do what I want to do; whether I can see or not the results right away. I just pick whichever I fancy at the moment. Camera manufacturers love the masses because they know they can count on them to buy the latest and greatest.

I do use the build in camera flash. I do have various camera brand and non brand flash, but I still depend on my camera's built in flash when I an not bringing a flash. I do have a mini Lumiquest brand flash diffuser that I can attach to the built in camera flash and I get to avoid those direct hard flash lights on the subject.
