Are you comfortable allowing people in that can't be vetted? If it were just a Muslim ban then Indonesians, Malaysians, etc. would not be eligible for visas. Indonesia has the largest Muslim in the world. But they cooperate with us in sharing info on potential tourists. I'm quite ok with banning visitors from countries where there are no records (Somalia) or from countries that don't cooperate with the US State Dept. Anything short of that is I***TIC

Ok. not sure about medicare, but certainly VA was most inefficient and sometimes deadly. That was agreed upon by both parties. The current administration has made strides there. Still miles to go, though

Like I said in a previous post, I have seen social medicine up close in NZ. Lots of short cuts. Lots of inexperienced docs. Reuse of things that wouldnt be reused in the US. Met a US-born (Ohio) pharmacist who was working in NZ for about 3 yrs. She asked me what i thought about NZ's social medicine. Every i mentioned the good and bad, she told me that she was disgusted with it and planned to move back to the US where care is significantly better.

BTW, in NZ, i met a woman who did not have insurance for medical issues (as opposed to traumatic injury). She had cancer and was not covered by the social medical system. She was bemoaning the fact that insurance was needed ON TOP of high taxes to support the social medicine system. The surgery my wife needed was totally free. Only some pharmacy costs after discharge. That part was nice. Too bad the Kiwi tax payers had to pay for tourist health care
