I tried this in January and thought I had it sold, not sure what happened, never heard back from the interested party. Any how I have been ill and need to unload some things. Starting with this lens that has gotten to heavy to handle and was always on my D610 for my events.
I do not have the original box but a soft case with two filters.
I really do not want to go through Adorama or B&H, but did get an offer, that if I had to I would take.
I think my offer of $500. plus shipping for the lens, 2 filters, and case is pretty good, because if I sold it to them they will sell it for more than that.
It's in excellent condition.

Good luck with your sale. I bought one last October and really like it.

Someone on here had mentioned the "Sunny 16 rule" to me the other day. So I researched it and today, we went out on the boat so I set the camera to Manual & Raw (scary for me...very very scary..lol) and set my settings to F16, ISO 100 and Shutter at 100 on my Nikon D5300, 18-55 mm lens....here are 3 of the best one's from today. Edited a little in LR5 - I am also still learning post processing - adjusted contract, vibrance, saturation and played around with the blacks, white, shadows and highlights.

Please any advice on editing, composition or any another comments welcome.

Thanks for the compliment on my pic and after all the various comments...I think I am going to stick with the point and shoot on my hip and pack the dslr on the pack horse.

I also liked your photo and the subject matter very much. We have 5 acres in the Bitterroot Valley, and hope to build on it one of these years if we live long enough.

I agree that you should stick with your point and shoot, but you might consider taking your D5300 and 18-55mm along for a test ride sometime. I have a D5300, a D500 along with a number of DX and FX lenses including the 35mm f/1.8G which is a wonderful prime lens, and the 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED mentioned a few posts ago which is also wonderful in different ways. Neither of those lenses have VR. Nikon lists 5 versions of the 18-55mm on their current product page, some with VR, some without. If yours came with your D5300, it probably has VR. If it does it'll say VR on it. Obviously photographers survived without VR, but it is nice to have.

The image you posted is equivalent to 25mm in 35mm format. I checked it at the following website.

http://exif.regex.info/exif.cgi

Your 18-55mm picture angle is equivalent to a focal length from 27 to 82.5mm in Nikon FX-format camera or 35mm-format. So it will be similar to your point and shoot on the wide end.

As others have mentioned, the 35mm would be super small and light, but the picture angle would the same as the middle range of your 18-55. You can see what that is like by setting your zoom to 35mm. The 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED is a nice fast lens, but it's very heavy, doesn't have VR and only gives a mm of wider zoom.

Good luck, and welcome to the UHH!

Why are there two different memory cards and what is their purpose?
UNbelievably fast the D810 focuses and how quieting it is.

At first I thought it was a pain having two different cards, but learned to like it. Initially I set the XQD slot on my D500 as the Primary, and the SD slot for overflow. Before a trip to Europe last year, I changed the SD slot to backup, shooting both in RAW. I replaced the SD card with a new one each day so I wouldn't lose any images if the camera was stolen or some other calamity occurred. SD cards are cheap, so I bought a bunch of fast 32GB cards and never erase them providing one more long term backup which I use all of the time now, traveling or not. I also filled up any extra space left on the cards I had changed daily while traveling. I haven't erased any XQD cards either, thinking it can't hurt to have even more backup.

When I am out with my camera, looking for a beautiful bird, or butterfly, or some exotic creature to photograph, I wind up with these! Squirrels are always hanging around! Literally!!

Great shots! We have the same "SquirrelBuster" feeder that's in your last photo. It's very effective when they climb from below, but this squirrel found a clever work around. We decided to give them their own feeders and added baffles to block climbing. Thanks for posting.

This Phoebe lands on the same plant before and after visiting the nest. The young are getting large and are crowded in the nest. They will fly very soon.

Great shot, and it's nice of her to use the same plant before and after feeding!

I know, and was surprized by the "413 Request Entity Too Large" alert when I tried to attach it. Thank you for responding. Dave

I missed that on your first post. A little searching came up with "Maximum combined attachment file size is 20MB. That's the total limit for all images attached to a single post."

That's from the Photo Gallery, Pictures -- section rules -- last updated May 21, 2016

If that doesn't work, maybe contact admin. Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing your picture!

I've read about building really huge MP files when stitching. I've used Photostitcher and the trial version of GPgui. No criticism intended for either, but I anticipated much larger files than experienced. The attached jpeg of a cathedral in Trondheim, Norway, is an example that I tried to attach but received this notice, "413 Request Entity Too Large"??? I believe I made 10 individual, hand held, shots yielding a 17.2 MP composite, per Mac Photos info. I regularly take individual 19+ MP shots with my Nikon 750. Does that imply that a single larger file from one photo could yield greater resolution than the stitched version? This certainly doesn't make sense. Could someone please tell me what is going on and, possibly give me a suggestion or two?
Thank you, Dave

I have no idea how to help you with the photo stitching, however your attached jpeg of the cathedral isn't attached to your post.

Probably on all of them with the Lock Switch. My D5300 doesn't have it.

Hi Folks, I just got back from a long trip to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Mount Airy North Carolina. While in the Smokey's, it was sad to see all the damage from the fires last year. Much of the man-made parts (buildings, roads, homes, etc) has been cleaned up leaving only concrete foundations or empty lots. However, it's going to take awhile for Mother Nature to do her job. These photos are of Campbell's Overlook along Hiway 441. I shot the "before" image in the fall of November 2011. The "after" image is the same Overlook after the fire (April 2017). The after shot shows the entire top portion of all three peaks and the ridgelines between has been completely burned and destroyed. The darkened areas are the scared remains of what was once beautiful pines and hardwood trees.

That's sad, and this makes it even sadder: "Two juveniles have been charged with aggravated arson in connection with the wildfires that ravaged two East Tennessee resort towns last week, killing 14 people and leaving nearly 150 others injured and damaging or destroying more than 2,400 properties."
