This 1944 John Deer tractor is being rebuilt and yes it runs.

The frame on this John Deere says it is newer than 44. Not sure whether the frame of this style started in rather 47 or 49.

My favorite time of year is when the air turns cooler, and the trees of WV put on their greatest show. These photos were taken in the Gorge area of WV.

1. The Grist Mill is the most photographed scene in WV.
2. The Bridge is the bridge that you cross to get to the Grist Mill.
3. Upper Kanawah Falls is in Gauley Bridge, WV.

[quote=nakkh]Evolve or die. Adapt or fall behind....
Win8 is different and weird compared to the last 20 years of Windows. But it's very stable, fast, doesn't crash & works well with games and everything else. A lot of people & companies stuck with XP (never even moved to win7) until the bitter end- Now they're being forced to Win7. But, it's better to just make the leap to 8 & learn the new technology and adapt to the changes. You might be surprised how good it actual is. This is only my Humble Opinion based on working for 30 years in IT.

Windows 8 is garbage

Our IT department disagrees about how good it is . Under their test they remain with Windows 7.

Is that "Threshold" as in "Threshold Of Pain" ?

Must be as in pain as Microsoft did not develop it in a painstakingly manner. :)

Microsoft Dropping the start button was really a bad idea & that's what most people hate about it.

I liked the speed it booted up and shut down, other than that normal operation was inconstant at best and I found it too annoying to contend with. I use win 7 for my CAD software and all other things are now done on my new MAC Pro laptop. Nice thing about it at least right out of the box it has been totally trouble free.

Here are a couple of segments from an article that should make some people happier about Windows 8

Microsoft Windows 9 Will Reportedly Come in 3 Flavors

Microsoft's Windows 8 is approaching its second birthday and the terrible twos. Even though Windows 8.1 was a major update, the OS is still an albatross around the company's neck, according to many users. To remedy that Redmond is reportedly working on a new take on its operating system, called Windows 9, or Windows Threshold, which will address many complaints. Among other things, that includes offering three different versions of the OS for desktop, 2-in-1 and mobile users.

Windows 9 isn't expected to make its first appearance until later this fall. Until then, you'll have to contend Windows 8.1, downgrade to Windows 7 or switch to Mac. via: ZDNet

I would put more fact in this article than some of the comments I have heard on hear about how fantastic Windows 8 is. This appear to be based on more honest fact than someones personal opinion.

Is it just me, or does a 1965 Impala look 50 million times better than a 2014 Impala?

OH the 65 looks by far better. My favorite was the 1958 Chevy Impala. Why? Simple because it did not look like anything prior to or after. One of a kind as far as I know. I am sure there are some small things that it came from before but overall it is vastly different, inside and out. By the way a good picture of the 65.

I recently decided to conduct a very exhaustive and scientific study to determine if Nikon or Canon is the preferred camera. In order to conduct the study my wife and I went on a ten-day cruise to Bermuda and I counted the number of Canon camera users versus the number of Nikon camera users. I counted only DSLR cameras since a number of the females with smaller cameras refused to let me close enough to determine their camera type or anything else for that matter. My wife said she understood why they refused. I accused her of being a sexists and she accused me of being a dirty old man, which is where we left that issue.
For the Nikon users I am happy to report that Nikon by a margin of four to one beat out Canon. Ok I discounted thirty or so Canon users who were technically illiterate and thus had purchased the camera without knowing what they were buying. I still do not understand how the ship’s captain could have owned a Canon and still be permitted to captain the ship. Well maybe because the captain was a female and did not know any better. My wife pointed out that at one port all the other ships were parked with the pointy end of the ship (a nautical term) facing into the dock while our captain had the roundy end of the ship (another nautical term) pointed into the dock. I asked our cabin steward why we had backed in and he said, “Oh she’s just showing off,” which is typical of a Canon camera owner.
I had planned to take some pictures to post here, but since I have only had my Nikon 5200 for a little over two months, I have not figured out how to turn it on. I am just about to the point of getting out the owner’s manual but not quite there yet. My wife said if I have not figured the camera out by the time we head to the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot’s reunion she is going to start using it for a door stop. Typical of a woman who uses an almost eight year old Canon Sure Shot and thinks she is a real photographer. Once I get my Nikon turned on I’ll show her what a real camera will do.

Beyond your humor you seem to be somewhat biased. But I needed a good laugh today.

There will be plenty that will disagree with what you think of Windows 8 but might thoughts exactly on 8. Microsoft rushed it to market too soon. I know many people that have or had win 8 but either went back to win 7 or moved to MAC.s. I am one of the latter. I have seen this conversation on here for a while and it amazes me a few that have defended 8. In all my travels I have not met one real person that had anything good to say about 8. Some say well you need to update to windows 8.1.. My thought is I bought the computer to use and not to have a bunch of problems with it pretty much right out of the box.

Yes just barely. This tree is at the Kankakee River State Park about 7 miles from where I live. I went out there today and we have had enough rain that at this time you cannot see the roots at all.
