I'm talking about where they're obviously trying to go with the whole thing. Obamacare is just the latest in a long series of unhelpful interventions in the marketplace, each of which has served to provide the pretext for the next. The democrooks as much as said that they expect Obamacare to collapse and then they're hoping that nobody will notice that it was a government intervention that "cratered" and that they'll be able to use it as an excuse to bring in a single-payer scheme.

I'll assume you really are a physician of some kind You have to have noticed that each iteration puts more control in the hands of government bureaucrats and piles on ever increasing piles of paperwork, both on providers and on patients? I remember a day when my doctors were working for me-- when (except for a few communicable diseases) what I spoke of with them remained between us. Now the default appears to be that anything discussed and any test results will be reported, the data to be mined by the "appropriate" government agencies, and God knows what private companies and hackers. (Reporting to my insurance company is reasonable-- I'm hoping they'll pay for a lot of it, they're reasonably going to want to know why they need to pay.)

You probably think, for instance, that doctors spying for BATFE is a good thing.

You are obviously paranoid. Your insurance company does not report to the government unless your insurance company is the government. Your insurance company sells your data to other companies. Ever notice that if you are diagnosed with arthritis, you suddenly get phone calls, mail and emails from companies selling arthritis cures? The government didn't give it to them. You still believe that corporations are inherently honest.
No, I don't support the Florida law that allows questions that are not medically related.

Another wrinkle:

According to the article, Wikipedia claims, "For example, under US copyright law, copyright claims cannot vest in to non-human authors (that is, non-human authors can't own copyrights)"

An advanced search of www.copyright.gov shows no instance for the phrase, "non-human author" so where does Wikipedia get its information?

Possibly from case law?

At least with a private insurance company, you can take them to a court that isn't part of the insurance company. Try that when you're getting your health insurance from the same government that runs the court system.

You seem to miss that you don't have government insurance unless you are medicare or medicaid. The government is the broker. That is like blaming the realtor when the bank screws you over buying a house. Once the exchange connects you, the government is out of it. However, since they have minimum rules, you might send a complaint so the exchange checks to make sure your company is following the rules. They don't like rules because they can't keep as much of your money.

I'll tell you what the insurance companies are doing....In order to get around the clause that you can't be rejected for pre-existing conditions....They simply remove your doctor from their Networks...I know...this has happened to me. In my area alone, they have removed 46 percent of the Dermatologists and gave me two options as far as available doctors. Two doctors to service the entire St. Louis market when it comes to private care physicians. I appealed to them per established procedures, and they told me to pound sand basically. It was like a Kangaroo Court. Even my Doctor appealed their decision and they just laughed it off. In addition to this they took my primary care physician off the network as well...then I had to go get a "referral" to go back to my Dermatologist, which I had been seeing over 10 years. (My primary care physician I had been seeing for over 30 years) I get the referral and they remove her from the network...all during a time period when open enrollment is not available to change plans.

That is still the insurance company screwing with you. They have to provide real insurance instead of a high profit scam, and they resent it. When you get the chance, change companies. Of course they blame it on the government. The killers defense was that if the police had just backed off, he wouldn't have had to kill his hostage, so it its the fault of the cops.

But, but, but -- even a monkey can push a button. Setting up the shot and choosing camera settings requires critical thinking.

According to the news today, the court decided it is who pushes the button. That may become problematic.

Again? How many you folks will start this thread? You do not have enough this crap?

When the courts get involved in your rights to your own photos, it is not the monkey that is the issue. A significant number of thread on this site deal with ownership of the image. This time, the court has thrown a monkey in the works.

St Patricks is covered with scaffolding while it's being renovated. Not much to shoot there right now. I don't know about the inside

Inside also has scaffolding, but you can get some excellent selective shots. Look at the details.

And if I shoot on "auto", does Canon own all my photos?

The issue in court is who pushed the button.

I have not read beyond the headlines of this story. What I want to know is, did the monkey retain an attorney? If I owned the camera, I think I'd claim ownership of the photo. Monkey doesn't like it? So sue me!

EDIT: Okay. Read the link. Still clear as mud.
What about the paintings done by the elephant? Who owns those?

Wiki is not claiming that the photo is owned by anyone, but in the public domain since a monkey can't own property, intellectual or otherwise.

If I set up my camera with a motion sensor release to capture photos of a hummingbird or owl, do I lose ownership because I didn't push the button?

Absolutely fantastic. Many years ago (film days) I was also lucky.

The following is a question and not a criticism. I notice in the first picture that there is a general blue tint to the picture and the mountain. I also get that on similar types of photos. Can anybody explain why this happens. Also, what one can do to get rid of it if you are not using Photoshop or Lightroom or essentials.

The blue haze is because of reflected light & altitude. It is actually accurate to what I saw when there, so I didn't try to change it.

Here is another angle. The vertical drops on each "shelf" are over 1000 feet. The distance between the peaks is 1.5 miles. This one is to get an idea of scale. I still have trouble wrapping my head around the size of that thing.

It looks beautiful there. What time of the year was this? When would be the best time to visit there as we are hoping to go next year.

Best time seems to be late Summer, early fall. We were there the last week of August, and there was ice on the street in Denali Village in early morning. Day temps were around 65-70. You can watch the mountain live from a camera at Talkeetna Lodge, about 65 miles from the mountain.

News tonight says the photo is in public domain because the monkey pushed the button. What about pictures taken by a photocell sensor? If I set up the picture and provided the equipment, I would assume I owned the photo, but apparently I would be wrong.

They sell buttons for the 30% club, because only 30% of the visitors even see the mountain due to bad weather. We had 3 days of crystal clear weather, top to bottom and the full range. Beautiful. Can't wait to go back.

I presently have a nikon 50mm f/1.8 and a nikon 18-200mm.
I enjoy shooting street and buildings.
should I invest in another lens possibly a wide angle or fisheye lens? ....if so which one would you recommend?

Depending on when you are going, One WTC will be open in November. Otherwise, use either the Empire State Building or Tops of the Rock. Be sure to visit St. Particks cathedral & St. John's The Divine (113th & Amsterdam Ave, just north of Central Park). Take a ferry to Liberty Island & check out Ellis Island. If you have time, take the Circle Line cruise around Manhattan, especially at dusk. That will be your best shots of skylines. Also a fun trip.
