I have an MBA, had many years of earning 100k per year, but never had job security, paid retirement plans, and health benefits after I retiired. Sorry, turning a wrench is not worth 48 an hour. And that is why manufacturing is no longer part of our GDP.

We don't make $48 an hour unless you include benefits. Im thankful for my job and the benefits it affords me and my family we are blessed. When you add benefits to any salary it seems like a large amount. Add in a all the stock options, bonuses and expense accounts of many executives get and the amount is way more than A thousand or more auto workers! And the reason why manufacturing left was and is GREED! People who have a lot tend to look down on the less fortunate so quickly thinking what they do deserves so little. Every person working should make a living wage. Do the math and see if you could support yourself and your family on not even minimum wage but $10 an hour with no assistance from the government.

Thank you for sharing your front line perspective. I hope you weren't driving while typing! We all benefit when we hear from "the horses mouth".

I think that "turning a wrench" is over simplifying. Wish we could get get an auto worker to chime in. In any case, what do think a production line worker should earn as a fair wage? And do you think you were appropriately paid for what you did? Did your MBA entitle you to 100k plus earnings or did you bring something else to the table. I personally think the CEOs of poor performing companies are very often the ones who are outrageously overpaid.

I'm a GM worker. I've worked at an assembly plant for 15 years. Since before Gm's "bankruptcy" we have not had a raise! Not one red cent! Also cost of living allowance was also lost at that time. Also with that came a 2-tier wage. Which was voted in by the Union under the pressure of jobs not being renew at our plants. but what wasn't shared is every local that voted it down is now closed! Everyone hired after that hire in at less than $15 an hour and after 4 years their top wage is caped at just under $20 an hour. Unlike popular belief Auto workers work for every cent. Times have changed we build on average
72 trucks an hour with about 25% less people than before 2007. People can say what they want about blue collar workers but many including myself are college educated but make more than many other professions with better benifits and less stress. just a side note many have a lot to say about those who live off the government but it's partly our governments fault. We were once leaders in manufacturing. When those job left there was a trickle effect in those local economies. It's bigger than just one company moving overseas it affects all of the small companies that supply them, restrants, stores, school systems, local governments and the lists go on. Typing while riding on the highway please excuse form. There's so much to say about who makes what but if we all don't pay attention to what our elected officials are doing it's going to affect all but the upper 5% of Americans.. It will be the very rich and the very poor!

Kia has a huge assembly plant in Alabama!

And so do many other "foreign" car makers including Toyota. There are several in Indiana. Some of the Nissians were made in General Motors plants. A few years back GM OWNED 51% of Nissian. Also they get there parts from the same places as GM, Ford and Chrysler. In fact most of the foreign cars sold in America are mad in America!

I'm not familiar with that particular Fuji.

I own several Fuji cameras including the hs50EXR.

Looks like regular street price is around $250.00.

Fuji opticals rival or beat the other makers, I would not be afraid.

Edit; I am assuming you are familiar with the seller!

Meijer department store. I picked it up today. Checking it out for a few days.

Should be a very nice camera, I haven't heard any complaints on the results. Personally, I would not like it because of the 'fixed' LCD making it more difficult to take pictures from some low or high angles, etc. That is why I chose the Canon SX40 and then the SX50.

Fix LCD is not important to I have on my Canon 60d have used it abou twice. The SX50 is what I was considering and still am. I'm going to play with the Fuji film the rest of the weekend before making a decision. Thanks for you insite.

Look at the specs on the Fuji HS50EXR. It will cost a bit more at Amazon, but it's a whole lot more camera. And with an articulating screen.

I have a canon 60D and have only used the articulating screen a few times. So it's not a big deal for me. Fuji was not under my radar the price is what got my attention. I picked it up today and have been checking it out. Lots of in camera extras. Thx

That's a really good price for a good camera. Before you buy, who is selling it? That could make a difference.

I had the S7000 and S9000 - very nice.

EDIT: Is that new or refurbished?

I got it at Meijer department store new. It came with 8g SD card, 4 AA batteries and a case. I didn't know it was a bundle until I picked it up today. I'm disappointed in the picture quality but maybe I just need to get use to the camera. A lot of different effects in camera. Exploring it for a few days to see if I'm going to return it.

They should be visible on most any computer, provided they are JPG pictures. If they are raw images the would need converted first unless the computer is set up to decode raw for your camera.

Thanks

In most cases, unless the photos are named as the camera would name them, within the appropriate folders then the camera will not see them... If you put photos on an SD card, simply mount the card back on the computer and browse that card with your file browser (finder), if the photos are there then they are there, regardless of what the camera says.

BTW - Photos has an export function from the menu....

That is what I used. In iPhoto it showed it loading with a white circle filling in. When it was complete a message came up with the file names saying all of the files couldn't be exported. So the ones that did load on the sd card will be visible on any computer or just a Mac?

Ok I've been working at it and put a SD card in. When I view it in finder some not all of the photos are on the card. A window came up and said over 100 photos could not be exported. I put the card in my camera. It said no images on card! What's up?
