That's a very nice image and unusual as well. Rainbows are visible because sunlight, coming from the sun behind you is reflected back toward you off water droplets in the air. Since this is a sunset picture, the sun is in front of you, not behind you so is not the source of the rainbow. Any chance there was a bright moon behind you? There are rare phenomena known as moonbows that might be what you photographed.
Thank you Reuss, It was a sunset and the sun was behind me when I took the picture, the sun sets at Hayle Towans a large beach about 12 miles from me. We had had showers on and off all day and the whole sky was this colour which ever way you looked. I have seen beautiful sunsets from the village but not with the sky like this one nor with a rainbow in it...
