With the hectic bustle of the season I have nearly missed getting this posted. As such is the case, I am wishing you all a Merry Christmas, AND a Happy Boxing Day.
We don't celebrate Boxing Day here in the U.S. and honestly I am uncertain as to why the 26th of December is celebrated and known as Boxing Day. I do remember I looked it up one time and unfortunately have forgotten. Soooo, I will needs be looking it up again once I complete this post!
I share with you an image I captured on the Day of Christmas eve. This is a reasonably rare blossom on of all things, a Christmas Cactus. It only blooms once a year, and fortunately for me I was here, at a relatives home, to witness the second of 11 blossoms that will open and present itself before the cactus goes dormant for the next 11 1/2 months. For the life of me I can't imagine how this plant with it's simple beauty knows it is Christmas time and it is time to display it's blossoms.
I hope you like it and take to heart its silent message of peace and beauty.
Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day!!! And raise your glass of preferred beverage for a unified salute to a great and eventful New Year!
