Does anyone have the 18-300mm Nikon/Nikkor lens yet? It seems like a perfect lens for those of us that only want one lens for the majority of the time.

Yep, got mine about 3 weeks ago at National Camera here in Minnesota. So far so good, nice sharpness and range.

That car is in great shape. Beautiful find.
Those trunks were awesome. So much room. Nothing like the tiny trunks we have today.

I got ya beat by two years. I had a friend who had one of these in our senior year in HS and on one of those rare time when it snowed here in the Bay Area we took his car out on to the football field to do some donuts in the snow. Had the most fun but when we got caught we learned a valuable lesson. Spent a lot of time repairing the damage but it was a blast.

We call them donuts or cookies here in Minn. But now we do them on frozen lakes during the middle of winter - right after ice fishing.

Why carry 2 lenses? I would suggest the new Nikon 18-300mm VR II and go with the all in one deal.
I use the 28-300mm VR II myself as I do not buy DX lenses, but the close-focusing ability of it is wonderful, and with the 300mm range at close focus you get 1:3 ratio from 4 feet away.

Any idea who has the Nikon 18-300 in stock right now. I've been waiting for B&H but no luck yet.

National Camera in Minnesota - got mine a couple of weeks ago.

I agree with Shooter, just got the 18-300 Nikkor and love it. Have it mounted on a D7000 and makes a good combination. Then you have the energy to slep the tri or monopod along as well.

First, I am a new comer to the group. Have been following the forum for quite some time and have really enjoy the topics. I shoot Nikon.

Second, I just got the Nikkor 18-300 lens and was wondering if anyone has had a chance to use the lens yet? Has been wet up this way so I haven't really got a good opportunity to take it for a spin. Who has one and how do you like it. Please share! Thanks, Janice

I picked mine up yesterday morning and love it - tack on and sharp. Put a B+W XS-PRO Digital filter over it and I am really please.......

Really enjoyed your photos. Spent a week in an RV with the family several years ago on our way to Mt Rushmore and Elsworth AFB where my wife was born. Really enjoyed those locations. Great job.

Douglas High School is where I graduated from - it is at Ellsworth - small world.
