Reconsider your purchase. I have a 27" iMac, its great BUT when problems arise , and a few have , you have to cart this lump to the Apple shop or other fixer. I wish now that I had stuck with a laptop and used an external screen. Not only easier to transport but also more flexible . I have been told that the external screens can be a better spec than the iMac screens but can't confirm that.

Good luck whatever you choose.

I agree wholeheartedly with the external monitor suggestion. I have been using this solution for many years. You can purchase whatever size and specifications you want for a monitor and additionally have a laptop computer specked the way you want.

Maybe true with older cameras but I haven’t had a camera in years that doesn’t use a standard micro-usb cable. That being said I download directly from the card using a card reader dongle for my iPad. My Nikon raw transfer just fine, as do my Panasonic raw and any jpegs. The problem for me is the Fuji S1. The files will import but then just show up blank in Photos. Apparently iOS doesn’t have a converter for those files.

Apparently, the Apple SD card reader will solve that problem. Is there any reason you would not want to try that option??

Dear Hoggers,
I have 2 cameras: Nikon D500 & Fujifilm X-T2. (The Fuji is a recent acquisition.) When traveling, I download photos to my iPad Pro. With the Nikon no problem - with the Fuji I have no luck. I am downloading with a cable. iPad just sits there, does nothing. I unplug it, hook up the Nikon (same cable), it downloads. Any ideas of what I might be missing here?
Thanks in advance

Richard

You will need the appropriate Apple Digital SD Card Reader. If your iPad has a lightning connector then you will need the lightning to SD Card Reader; if your iPad has a usb-c connector (latest iPad Pro) then you will need the usb-c to SD Card Reader. Remove your SD card from the Fuji and insert in the card reader. Then use the photos app on your iPad to transfer whatever photos you want.

I won't put words into Grey Ghost's keyboard, but i suspect he refers to the fact that a seemingly large proportion of comments made on this forum include statements like "I'm just retired and getting back into photography" or "I'm 107 years old and can't handle the weight of my rig" kind of stuff. So it's not statistical as much as anecdotal.

That said, I get the sad suspicion that indeed, just like with motorcycles, the demographic of users is aging out - those youngin's use their smart phones and don't know or care about the difference between those and larger cameras with bigger sensors (mostly because it matters not when all they do is post to Ista-crap and the like), so other than the more avante garde artistes (who may well be the ones using film for the nostalgic look) it seems to me that we are essentially a dying breed.

Thank you f8lee for your skill at articulating my thoughts!!

It could be that since it appears that a significant percentage of the membership in this forum are elderly and therefore less likely to embark upon change. If you want to read info from Fuji users, you should probably consider joining a Fuji forum.

Your last paragraph proves you to be rude and ignorant. BTW - with a given lens, the FOV changes with crop factor, but you would not, of course, know that with your box brownie.

Does anyone know this answer: if you sell some camera equipment to mpb.com will you get paperwork at the end of the year for taxes?

What other kind of paperwork would you possibly need or want for taxes other than a receipt of purchase from the buyer?
