That looks like a recent Kodak digital that I recently saw. Take a look at the logo - slight differences.

YOU KNOW YOUR A NEWBIE WHEN:
- You ask UHH, "I'm planning a trip to xxxtown, what is the best lens should I buy?"
- You ask UHH, "I'm taking a picture of XXX, what exposure should I use?"
- You ask UHH, "What's the best camera for a beginner?"
- Your one of those spectators at the football game using flash to take pictures of the players on the field below.

There was a post a few days ago about upcoming photo/camera shows where one could see various pieces of equipment that are currently available. I mentioned Hunts Photo in the Boston area.
Well! I just received a mailed circular (value mail not junk mail) announcing their upcoming show; November 4 to 6. More info at huntsphoto.com.
In the past I have found this a pretty good consumer show with good discounts. Not so sure now since all the manufacturers set the prices with few discounts.

I've thought of both of your points. Stabilization in camera body is a great function with the older lens'.
Cost of Ai conversion is somewhere from $30 to $50 so it is still alot cheaper than buying another lens.
A bunch to think about!

Back in the 70s, Nikon changed their lens mount from the fork and pin aperture control arrangement to a bar on the lens aperture ring and a body mounted index. This was done on their early auto exposure/auto focusing SLR bodies (ex F3). Some of the earlier Nikon digital SLR bodies had this feature as well as electrical contacts on the lens. My old D200 was purchased so I could use the old lens as well as the newer (at the time) Ai mount.

Morning to the All Knowledgeable UHHers:

I was given an old Nikon F-mount 50-300 lens. Does anyone out there in photoland know of a repair facility that could do an Ai conversion for this lens. I checked Amazon to see if the adapter rings were still available, unfortunately none listed but maybe some shop has one stocked away in a parts drawer.

Hunts Photo runs one in Boston every year. The one for this year is past. You can sing up for notices on their website.

I purchased a 3 1/2 inch USB drive to copy some old floppies. Hooked it up to my laptop. You could hear it working but Windows would not recognize it or the files on the floppies. Returned it to Amazon. Your best bet is to use a computer with an older operating system.

I would make sure the policy is for REPLACEMENT VALUE of an equivalent piece of equipment. Most policies depreciate equipment value which will never equal what you have to pay for replacing what is lost. Yes, it is more expensive.
As far as value - do you have receipts or a dealer quote for what you own? Use that for establishing value.
Be prepared for a fight if a loss occurs.
