Yes, from a specific folder back to that folder. Wolfman, that's what has me baffled. After returning last year from Grand Teton NP, I took many sets of three bracketed pix of the Mormon Barns thru the Photomatix process and in all cases it returned the new HDR image to the same set in the original file. Just can't figure out why I cannot repeat the same process successfully.

Today's backyard practice shot was practice for a 13-day Alaska trip starting tomorrow. I don't plan to mess with this issue until I return. HDR is a big part of this trip's photo plan.
Yes, from a specific folder back to that folder. ... (show quote)

Not sure what the problem could be other than a setting may have changed somehow. I just exported, from a specific folder back to that folder, and it did work.

I unchecked and checked the box again. Still, does not bring the HDR image back to the LR photostream. However, I found it in the All Photos group. Hmmm... You have got to be right, but it is still not happening.

Ok, when I export to Photomatix, I'm exporting from the all photographs library, and it re-imports and stacks it with the original photo, in the all photographs library. I'll do any further adjustments, and then put it in the selected folder. Are you trying to export from a specific folder, and re-import to that folder? I'm not sure if Photomatix can do that.

I have used Photomatix before, but it has been a while. Now, when I create the HDR file in Photomatix, and I hit the return to original file, it does not return to the Lightroom photostream or the original folder so I can pp it slightly. It does appear in the "all photos location".

Can anyone offer a way to get the Photomatix file to return to the LR photosteam?

When you export from LR to Photomatix a box will pop up asking if you want the image re-imported into the LR library. Make sure that box is checked. It will then be imported right next to the original image.

I think this is a great suggestion.

One caution: I bought my first strobe, an AB400 from this company.
Got this model least-power (W/s) model to not overwhelm the scene with lighting.
I even discussed this issue with Melissa.

Nevertheless, I found the lowest power setting to be too much, in many cases.
Right now, I'm looking to upgrade to their Einstein strobes with smaller power increments, a better profile of flash duration, and lower power choices.

We'll see.

I have the AB1600, and run it at the 1/8th power setting, using their 40" Octabox.

I would suggest looking at Paul C Buff Alien Bees, plenty of power and reasonably priced. They also have a good selection of light modifiers and accessories.

First off, I said to "compare your 150-600 to a lens of similar focal length"

I guarantee this lens http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/camera-lenses/af-s-nikkor-200-500mm-f%252f5.6e-ed-vr.html is by far a better lens than the xxx-600mm lens by any of the 3rd party companies and it can be purchased for about the same cost. ($1,400)

Sorry, not better than the Sigma 150-600 Sport.

On my Nikon D7000 many of my images on my landscape shots are somewhat soft. I recently sent my camera to the Nikon repair shop in Illinois for calibration as well as having sent my Tamron 18-270 to the manufacturer for adjustments and still have the same issues. I have the camera set to 39 focus points and centered weighted at 8mm. I've tried everything- focusing 1/3 of the way, using a variety of different f stops, etc. Any suggestions you have have would be truly appreciated.

Use oldtiggers advice, and set your lens to 18mm, f/11 and focus on an object at 5', then recompose your image. That way everything from 2.44' to infinity will be sharp.

set it to 1 focus point, back button focus only, use tripod, remote release and close down the iris to f8 or or less.

DxO Prime, it's the best that I have found. I do have Topaz DeNoise, but since getting DxO, I no longer use it.

Why would someone spend $2000 on a camera and then look for a cheap battery grip?

Why would someone pay Nikon for their overpriced accessories? I gave them enough money purchasing cameras and lenses. I use DSTE brand grips on the D800 & D810, and they work just fine. $90 vs. over $700.
