But hey, there are no fortunes to be made by curtailing the cruise industry, cargo container ships, and other large fuel guzzlers including military and space use. Let's just pick on poor Joe Schmoe who has to go back and forth to work in a car that he can barley afford to keep running let alone buy a new EV.

We just need to improve the technology or find a better one. Unfortunately, we can't waste 50 years waiting to see what comes along.

Technology focused car companies are researching other fuels, e.g., Porsche has a pilot plant going in SA for synthetic gasoline which has the potential to be carbon neutral. The current problem is that the EV sector is "sucking the oxygen" out of the research that could be applied to the search for alternative fuels. And let's not forget the jet stream. Achieving air quality improvements requires cooperation from all countries, the chief polluter of which is China.

A friend had an EV, but he sold it and bought a pickup truck. He didn't go into details.

My wife and I bought e-bikes and went through a lot to store the batteries over the winter. The bike mfr. posted a list of dos and don'ts about storage in the off season.

sorry, the name of the company that processes B/W. They return prints, negatives and digital on a CD; at least that was the package the last time I sent film for processing.

It has been mentioned, if you enjoy shooting film then why not. It is not cost effective to shoot film and then scan it to work with an editor. In that case digital will save you a lot of money.
We do not find today many professional printing labs printing film.

I use the DARKROOM in Ca.

Is it worth shooting Film if all your going to do is scan and digitalize your negatives, or is it self defeating.

I might be off base here, but after seeing both prints and negatives that my dad shot over 100 years ago, I remain impressed with the quality and durability of these. I shoot a roll of B/W film now and then and hope my grandchildren can have the same experience long after I'm gone and laugh at their faces 75 years from now.

Watching an e-bay sale of Nikon D850, seller says the only number on the camera and box is "910". Normally should be 6 or 7 digits with 1st number indicating country for sale, 3------ for USA model. I have tried to research and it was suggested they ran out of numbers for the D850. Any help on serial numbers. I don't want to buy a non-USA model.

highly dubious:(

Accidently? No one does that.

I'd like to know too. Many here will help you spend money that's not theirs. I'd like to learn if I can about an accidental purchase of this magnitude.

Any impression regarding using Nikon D850 and Nikon 200-500 f5.6

Thanks

Matt, I use the D850 and D500 with the 200-500 f5.6 lens and am satisfied with the results. It's a heavy bugger but prices are coming down. Nikon has refurbs for about $1095. I'm sure used excellent condition examples from highly rated sellers on Ebay are considerably less. The MILC adapter will add a few oz. and cause the set up to be bulkier. As usual for many of us, budget is a consideration.

It comes down to what OP expects the camera to do for his photography. Since I have other bodies, the D5600 serves as a "snapshot" choice with built-in flash, light weight and interchangeable lens capability and can shoot jpeg and RAW in case I capture anything really awesome.

[quote=jerryc41]We've all heard about people saying, "You must have an expensive camera to take such good pictures." Although people have complimented my pictures, they never mentioned the camera. Maybe that quotation is just an urban legend.

Actually it was "she who must be obeyed" who said, that's an expensive camera. The pictures better be good!

I might need to look more closely at the D7100. (Just a little cheaper.) in retail cost.

Thanks

OP: I think it important to look at the specs as best you can and compare to your list of requirements and desires. The D7000 series is 7.5 oz heavier that the D5600. The lenses may or may not be lighter. If you start with only a few lenses for the D5600 to see what you really like; you won't need to buy many to get a feel for the body. And you can buy used kt lenses for very little money to determine what you like. I think many people expect a person to look forward to an MILC body as the future. I had one and sold it for a variety of reasons one of which was the adapter which made the camera feel awkward, that and the MILC bodies are more expensive. If you don't have a large investment in DSLR lenses then the adapter issue is less important.
If I were "at the starting gate", I'd start small and slowly and carefully select a few lenses. In my case, once I got heavily invested in DSLR glass, the idea of migrating to MILC became less and less tempting. To me, having a camera that feels comfortable and does what I want it to do is a major criteria for me. Your's is a personal preference decision.
PS: depending upon your use, the tilt and swivel rear screen was a real plus for me.

The reviews are all over the map for the 5600. Does anyone know if there are any
(real issues), against buy the 5600?

Thanks

I have had and used both the D5300 and the D5600 and liked them both. Recently the D 5300 came back from my son (who uses his I Phone) and have been pleasantly surprised at how light and handy it is. Unless you need the capabilities of higher end Nikons (D500, D850) then you could find the D5600 to serve most of your needs.
