I hate to cast a stone here, but I finally dumped an Epson 3800 after months of trying to get it to cooperate with my Mac. An Epson rep at the Photoshop World admitted to some problems. I had the Mac desktop 27'' with the latest OS and all the bells and whistles. After continuing to update drivers eft, etc, etc, with calls to Epson, Adobe, and Cannon, I gave up and went with the Canon Pro-1. No problems since. The Epson people blamed Adobe and vice versa. I also used the Color Munki in efforts. Upgraded to the NEC monitor with a new Mac laptop and am even happier now.
I learned the hard way to get the right products for the job and now use a Mac for processing. It has the reputation among the professionals for doing the best job on graphics and processing. Go to Photoshop World and you will see what I mean observing the world's pros at work.
I would suggest taking a look at Adobe Elements as an easier to use processing until you get more comfortable with the steps of processing. It can do a large portion of what PS or LR can do. You may also want to look into either Scott Kelby's PS training or Linda.com training on line. I have also done a lot of on line classes and found them to be the best overall.
Hello
I'm just getting into the group and hope to see lots of interesting information from you all.
I am somewhere between an amateur and pretend to be a pro photographer. I use Canon products almost exclusively and process on a Mac lap top with an NEC monitor. I live on the beautiful California coast and travel wherever the winds take me.
