I took a photography course in the early 80's before digital. I learned about exposure in that class. Not having the luxury of seeing the shot as you go that digital gives you it was necessary to use the light meter in camera which I used as a crutch....and still do. I have read Peterson's book Understanding Exposure but still don't know that I really get it. I am a hobbyist and enjoy taking pictures regardless of whether or not I understand what I'm doing. I still seek information though and have taken a course on one as well as read websites focused on teaching photography and of course this forum! Guess you could say I'm a life-long learner.....

I had the same thing happen to me recently. I checked the memory space available on my computer and realized I had little memory left! I dumped a bunch of stuff I was not using and then the pictures would upload. I don't know if that was the problem, but it seemed to be the solution. Maybe you are running out of room! I'm sure others here will be able to help you as I am certainly no expert. Good luck! Nothing is more frustrating than when technology doesn't work the way we think it should!

This is a cute shot of your grandson! I too get back pictures sometimes! I think that sometimes they are the best shot though. What do you think?

Love them!

I haven't been on here too long, but I will warn you!!! ....It is very interesting...and addicting. I am learning something once in a while and sometimes giving advice! There are a lot of nice and interesting people willing to give constructive critcism and willing to listen to it also. I am really glad I found this site!l. Welcome! :D

I just joined as well. Although I have been reading posts for over a year now! You are right about it being addicting. I could spend hours reading every single post. Now that I have officially joined and am responding to posts I fear I will have to drag myself away!

Thank you for the compliments! Feel free to share some too! You can put them in this thread I do not mind at all!

Love the one of the friends riding on the beach! Also love the one of the boy on the farm with the barn in the background.
I am sharing one I took of my grandson, my favorite subject! He however does not enjoy being a model for me so I get a lot of him from behind!

I like the color over all in the first one. The cloud/sun in the sky and the ground under the rainbow all add interest to the rainbow shot. I have tried getting good color in rainbows, but they all seem to wash out. Love the vividness of your shot. Great work!

Well HI Kim! Finally! :):) I guess you know there are some great folks here to play with and learn from.:) Now you have had a whole year, you must have some great shots from all the info you have gotten here. So lets start seeing some of them!!! :):):):)
Erv

Thanks Erv,
Here is one for you. Not one of my favorites, but one. I recently had my computer crash before saving all my picture files and got a MAC to replace my PC. I am in the midst of finding and organizing picture files. Quiet a job!

After driving up to the top of the cliff overlooking the Mississippi River, I knew I had the potential for some good pictures. I love reflections in water and the river was still enough to get a good cloud reflection here. Hope you like it.

Hello all! I have been reading this forum for a little over a year now and have received much valuable information. I joined to learn and learn I have. I want to thank all of you who post and respond as I often have many of the same questions. I am far from professional. Most of my picture taking is candid shots, however, I do like to try my hand at more creative, artistic photos. I take pictures because it is fun. I love looking at other peoples work and admire the artists who post on this site.
Kim
