question Cris, why compare a ff to medium format would it not be a closer comparison to ask about comparable cameras ie Canon, Nikon Sony etc. just wondering as medium format is a entire horse of a different color.

I can answer that question for the OP. In sentence 2 of the add, he says he is asking for $1195.

well if I really had to choose from the 2 I would get the D5 as have lenses that fit. You have a great turky day also

Glad to know you're getting better and can walk now w/o a walker ... that means you're coming along, Terry .... good!!!!

Yeah, you did, actually ....

The point here is this: for a paltry!! $6500 - you could buy either the top-of-the-line Nikon D5 (a 20mp FF FX 35mm DSLR) OR a Fuji GFX 50S (a 50mp Medium Format Eye-level Mirror-less Dig Cam) ... sure, you'd still need a lens ... but, hey! ... you can't have everything!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Terry ... don't eat too much!

hip is doing well I am now able to walk a bit without that damned walker attached to me all the time looks as though the operation worked this time. Don't know if I missed the point the D850 would be the camera that I would spend the cash on it would do everything I ever would demand of it, the D5 is great but would be overkill as I do mainly landscapes and non moving animals(I am far to shaky to try and keep up with anything fast moving ).
Do not know a lot about the Fuji so cannot comment will leave that for those in the know.

Yeah, but, Terry ... you're missing the issue ... says - one or the other ...

Going out in desert, water, and other situations such as a safari can be hard on equipment,
most likely from use, the side movement not so sure maybe argue that with them not the debris you might get them to fix it the lens is a good one and though expensive to fix would not cost near as much as replacing it hope the issue gets resolved.

I'm just back from Africa and about half way through the trip noticed there was debris on an internal lens element. I also noticed there was significant side to side movement of the front section of the lens which made me wonder if it was sealed sufficiently. I sent it back to Nikon under warranty for repair. If you shine a flashlight at an angle through the front lens it reveals any internal dirt/debris. Has anyone else noticed this issue and might it be an issue with this and or other long lenses?

how long ago did you buy the lens?. If it is from use which it most likely is then why should they cover it under warranty how bad is it if it shows on the photo you take you could remove it with content aware or cloning.

I recently sent my Nikon 80-400 lens to Nikon's LA repair facility. It is still under warranty. I sent it in because there is a piece of debris on an interior lens element. It was either in the lens during manufacture or was pulled in during normal use. The lens was never damaged or abused in any way. Nikon's response was that the removal of the debris was not covered under warranty and to disassemble the lens and clean it would cost $651. I spent over $2000 for the lens and decided to not invest another $650 on it. Needless to say I'm not happy with Nikon's service.

Nikon has always treated me right cannot give them enough praise

Every now and then I read some derogatory comment about how poor Nikon's customer service is.

For me they have gone out of their way. When I decided to purchase a D850. I contacted Nikon Professional Service and had the camera within a week. I asked them for a battery pack and I got it within a week.

That's service in my book, and to add frosting on the deal. I got bonus bucks and no tax for Black Friday.

was just thinking possibly camera and flash out of sync don't think Nikon is at fault. Would be worth the try for the op before putting out cash though a tech sure would know what the problem is.
CHOLLY wrote:
^^^Terry, I can't think of ANY situation in which Nikon would deliberately have one of their camera models display this type of behavior.

This sounds much more like a malfunction than one of user error.

In any event, a licensed technician will be able to sort it out...

might just be a setting issue.

Unfortunately artemus, your camera isn't "back to normal" because what you told us indicates that you DO have a problem with your shutter mechanism and or shutter control, and that you WILL need to get it serviced.

ESPECIALLY if you want to use flash....

glad you may have figured it out, have you tried going into the menu and setting the flash setting your D7100 manual will tell you what to use if you did not get one they can be downloaded onto your computer hope all works well.

I found that by disabling the flash(turned top knob to the lighting bolt icon) my pictures come out fine(no dark spot)! Auto focus still is engaged, top flash unit stays down and little flash bulb (front of camera) does the lighting for the composed picture. Wow, all that hassle eliminated by simply disabling the (pop-up flash). Learn by trial and error, try, try and try again. Also the comment about the deployment of the flash is what led me to try this method. In this case by NOT deploying the pop-up flash unit eliminated the "dark spot" on my picture(s)! Works for now, and thanks for all the great suggestions! NIkon d7100 "back to normal"!

oh and the cinnamon means the light roast which is just before city roast about 3 steps in front of french roast the cinnamon roast is so light that almost all the caffeine is still in the bean where french and italian the caffeine is much less as the roast has sent the oils outside of the bean those make a great espresso coffee.

just a bit of cream or half and half for me sugar is for hiding the bitterness of a Robusta coffee (used as a cheap add in to make the more expensive beans go further at the expense of taste.) usually from Vietnam or that area of the world though lately they have been producing higher quality beans that are pretty good.
I grew coffee trees in Maui and am going to plant 5 acres there on my property later next year.
Same varietal as Kona just cannot be called Kona unless it is grown in the Kona coffee region.
