These old houses evoke a longing for what has passed. Your rendering gives voice to that. Well done and thanks.

Thank you very much, Shootist.

I hope so, too!!! Doubt if we would do it again in the middle of January, though... It really wasn't much of a problem driving. Except the whiteout as we crossed the Canadian border, south of Winnipeg; and the mud spray that coated the headlights in/near Edmonton!!! Temps took a little getting used to, very rarely getting below +8F at my home. I did find the brief experience of -35F (getting gas/petrol) too cold for my liking! Funny but -20F was tolerable, barely, ...if the wind wasn't blowing. Curiously, the temps in the Alaska Brooks Range were around -10F, we even did a little hiking there! Lol, there were not many hotel guests encountered, and the rates were rock bottom!

Yes, for sure our winters take a while to get used to. This year we have had no snow yet in Saskatchewan, except for a minor dusting. The temperatures are very nice - above zero every day in December so far. It is very unusual, but we also know the snow and freezing temps are coming.

Strange how dilapidated old homes make such delightful photo subjects! You captured the allure of this one!
We traveled from Arkansas, up thru Winnipeg, to Alaska in January 2017. I recall seeing several old photogenic homes along the way in that area. Unfortunately, it was not where I could stop and photograph them...

Thanks for your comment, Doug. I am totally drawn to these old places, and I shoot them whenever I can. I hope you get the chance to get back to those places you missed in 2017. They are still waiting for you.

I shot this old guy this morning over on the Delaware County line while running an errand.

Excellent photo of the old place, John. I like everything about it.

Thank you, Dan' de Bourgogne. Actually, it is a house, but I still appreciate your kind comment.

Beautiful shot Cottondog. I'll bet it would look great in B&W as well - especially with that sky.

Thank you, srfmhg. I never considered a B&W conversion, but I will give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

I grew up is house very similar to your picture. It was bulldozed in about 1980 and the land now back to bald prairie.

Nice picture.

Thank you, bwana. I'm glad it brought a memory to you.

Your capture of the overcast sky, abandoned building, and the skeletal foliage in the foreground all combine to make this a most memorable image. I love old buildings, and this is one that has certainly captured my attention.

Thank you very much for your kind comments, tommystrat. Very much appreciated.
