Does anybody know a good (cheap) resource for some of the British photo mags? I sneak peaks at them when I'm at Barnes and Noble and they seem FULL of really good content however they are also about $15.00 each.

I subscribe to Digital Camera thru http://imsnews.com/ Still not cheap but @ $115.99 for 13 issues (including delivery) better than your $. They also have others like N Photo.

After many mags over many years and many disappointments on too much fluff and no meat I have found Digital Camera. Check it out - not cheap but includes what I think are good articles and a CD to expand on/support some of the items discussed.

Following from the 18-105 kit manual - This is clearly only while operating - not anything about the switch.

• Do not turn the camera off or remove the lens from
the camera while vibration reduction is operating.
Failure to observe this note could result in the lens
sounding and feeling as if an internal component is
loose or broken when it is shaken. This is not a
malfunction. Turn the camera on again to correct this.

I just received a new lens (Nikkor AF-S DX Nillior 55-300 mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR) and read in the manual - "Do not turn the camera off or remove the lens while vibration reduction is in effect."

How many of you turn the VR switch off before turning your camera off and if you do how many forget to turn it back on when you turn your camera on?

The point Nikon was making is that if power to the lens is cut while vibration reduction is on, the lens may rattle when shaken.
