At least it doesn't look like it will damage anything when it does finally fall. :-o

any Easter Eggs up there

Haven't looked up there for any. Seem to get at least one rabbit nest in the yard each year. Don't have any yet, so I don't think I will find any Easter Eggs up there yet. - Probably won't even after the rabbit makes a nest in the yard either.

Wish the regular flowers would grow as well as these do.

Obviously I haven't done anything to fertilize them. Need to find out what they are using for a food source.

These dandelions were there last year and I see they have come back again. I don't think their root system can go very deep though. Guess it will be easier to use the liquid weed killer instead of my broadcast spreader.

Are you wanting to use the grey card for white balance or exposure? The easiest way I've found to handle WB is just shoot raw, then tune in post. For exposure, I've been told you can meter off the back of your hand, or green grass if there's any around.

I think that you mean the palm of your hand. The article that I remember was in a photography magazine years ago - when we were shooting film.

The palm of the hand reflects the same for all ethnic groups. I don't think that the back of the hand would.

I have a new monitor (HP 2511x). It's a 25 inch led backlit monitor. It is beautiful and images look amazing on it. But it has a problem that some of you may already have heard of or already know about. It gradually gets lighter as you start at the top and go down. You can't tell just looking at it or looking at images or anything else. I discovered this on accident, but I would like to know if any of you who have newer style monitors have this same symptom.
Here's how to tell. Open Paint and maximize it and make sure the white background window also fills the entire screen.
Choose the solid color rectangle tool. There are 2 yellow colors you can choose. Choose the lightest one. Draw a rectangle a couple inches wide from the very top down to the very bottom of your screen.
On my monitor it is dark at the top, but it gradually lightens as it goes down and is almost pure white at the bottom.
If any of you are willing to try this, do any of you notice the same thing.

It's not a defected monitor because I took it back when I noticed it and got an entirely different brand and it did the same thing. So I thought it was my video card so I bought a good new video card and also exchanged my monitor again back to the first model HP I bought and it still does the same thing. So this must be a characteristic of led backlit monitors...

Colors are beautiful if you don't know about this, but I have to be aware of this issue when editing photos that extend past the middle of my screen very far horizontally in either direction...so that part sucks...

I have the HP 2511x monitor and did the test that you described. I can't see any variation in the color from the top to the bottom of the screen. I even tried the bright yellow, lt green, lt blue, brown and gray and didn't see any color variation in any of them. I don't know what the difference would be except the monitor settings.

a little unrelated question,, is that covered bridge in Kent Connecticut?

That is the Ballard Rd bridge in Greene County, Ohio
The road ends in a turn around now, but you can still drive on the bridge.
The photo attached was taken from route 35 between Xenia and Jamestown, Ohio

Here are a few pictures of some of the birds that have visited my bird feeder when I was watching and could get a picture. Take all of the pictures through my patio door.

Have one of a Grackle like I have never seen before. Didn't get time to get it focused clearly, but it's good enough to see what he / she looks like.

I have a 3 hour fire rated safe.

Check the specs, that means it will take 3 hours before flames get inside but how hot will it get inside there? Is whatever backup media you put in there immune to heat?

The 3 hour rating may only be for paper documents. It takes a media rated fire safe to protect any of the electronic media.

We are going to floridia in april I wil take some photos of birds and alligators.....but I really want to take some close up scary photos of spiders and snakes.......any advise on where to go and how to take them would be appreciated. Spiders don't bother me but snakes make me crap my pants.........it's time to put that fear behind me........a 300 mm lens with a 2x converter should help.

I'd suggest an antidote for snake bite and an extra pair of pants

Might even consider wearing a good pair of leather boots - high tops.

I have just joined this site today as I am a complete 'point and click' photographer. I rely on my computer to fix my pics simply by clicking the 'AUTO' button and using the 'crop' feature. I am hoping to learn how to take better pictures and more interesting pictures which I can then use in my craft and card making. Please be gentle with me as I really do not understand all the JPEG, and the other things that relate to pics. I am fairly quick to learn though so fingers crossed. I have a Canon PIXMA iP5200 camera but have only used the 'auto' setting mainly and the 'macro' setting just once. That must sound dreadful to you camera buffs but that is how it is. Looking forward to visiting the site regularly to see who is doing what. Bye Bye for now.

Welcome to the forum. I would like to know how you get your printer to take pictures. The Canon Pixma iP is a printer.
What camera are you using?

Canon Pixma Pro 9000. Great pics....good pricing. Uses 8 ink jets.

I second this !
The colors come out vibrant - and the printer lets you decide what size to be printed out. Your not stuck with either -- OR..

My vote goes to Canon since I have purchased 4 of them through the years. Always liked the fact that they have separate ink tanks so you are not replacing cartridges because one color ran out. My current printer is a Canon Pixma MG 52120 purchased for about $100.00. I do save money on ink by purchasing generic ink online from a couple of reliable sources. Can't tell the difference between the photos that I print and the ones you can get from any of the retailers.
