I gave the SX30IS a try a few months back. It took good pics but a little too soft for my liking. Definitely Do Not use the Auto mode because it will destroy your shots. Also does not like higher ISO levels but that is common with P&S cameras with the big zooms. The Macro shots were very good as well as moon shots. I ended up with the Panasonic FZ40 (very sharp pictures)...Yes...I like mega zooms
