It's RMS Titanic--British ship. I don't know what the USS Titanic is, other than it being a song.
Yes, you're correct... everything in the song is off by a digit...
... that's the actual date of the Titanic's sinking, but for some reason, my head always told me it was May 15th, 1913 and on that day, as confirmation, and if I remember, I make a serious and respectful toast, followed by a few lively steps of Eagle Rock.
Why, you ask, would anyone do this...? Well... lookee here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XFYMjkFYPg
In the early '70's, going to school in Dallas and working two jobs, once a month I'd bootleg a trunkful of Coors beer (@ $5.25 a case) to Arkansas (@ $5 a six pack). I got off from Texas Instruments at midnight and within an hour, at 1090 AM on the radio dial, KAAY's 50,000 watts was keeping me awake with "Beaker Street" featuring such classics as "Ballad of the USS Titanic", "DOA", "Alices Restaurant" and other long-winded productions...
So, please forgive my confusion...

"Free" to him because he had no cash outlay.
Obviously not free to the person(s) who bought the gift cards.
Then again, why would anyone buy themselves gift cards?????
Small scale money laundering...

[quote=Rongnongno]Since a thread on grain nostalgia appeared, if has been bothering me quite a bit. I do not see why folks says it is not feasible.
I think I partially cracked the code.

Interesting… and- your work on such esoteric topics is appreciated- thanks!
Once upon a time, during the film age, when grain was desired, it was common to take a few frames of a clear, north sky and sandwich with the main image. Grain size was variable by ASA of the film and developing time – black and white, film, obviously. A collection of grain negatives was a handy thing to have. I didn’t do it much because I couldn’t always find my grain negatives when I needed them… every few years. I suspect the same process would work with digital... Next time I see a clear, north sky, I’ll give it a shot.
Everybody needs a headshot sometimes... neighbors know I'll crank one out for 'em...

Yup, with variations, too...
Herd of cows...
Certainly I've heard of cows...
No, no, a cow "herd"
A cow heard what? What do I care what a cow heard; I have no secrets from a cow...
