I don't have a problem with that since tipping isn't required and most likely would save me 2% from the 20% I usually leave. In addition to that, I like that it spreads the 18% (hopefully equally) to the employees.

Dream on.

If this becomes successful how long will it be before we will need to tip for anything purchased from a clerk, waiter or whatever. Doesn't it make sense to anyone that we could also put the entire cost of everything (rent, wages, sales tax, etc.) into the price of the product . . . and then pay the clerk, waiter or whatever a fair, liveable wage?

I've mentioned this before, and I'm mentioning it again. I tend to misplace things, not making a mental note of where I left them, so I can't find them later. A couple of years ago, I bought a Tascam audio recorder. I wanted to use it a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find it. What did I do? Naturally, I bought another one. I got that setup and put it carefully away. Guess what happened next? Right. I can't find it. 🤣

I haven't done a thorough search - ripping up the carpet, checking the dog's poo, looking in the ashes from the wood stove - so I haven't given up hope. It's been only a week, so I'll look everywhere. Of course, I "looked everywhere" for the first one I bought. However this turns out, I'm not buying another one. I bet I'll trip over it while walking to the bathroom at 3:00 AM someday.
I've mentioned this before, and I'm mentioning it ... (show quote)

Welcome to the "club". It only gets worse. But on the upside I have learned to laugh about . . . as there is not much I can do about it.

Some do have value. I spent many years in the auto repair industry. It's like any other product. It's only useful if you have to use it. The fine print should always be read and research done. I saw many instances where those warranties saved customers hundreds or even thousands of dollars. I have seen others that were not worth the paper they were written on.

Regarding this "fine print" . . . there is so much of it going around today that one needs to be a Philadelphia lawyer to understand much of it!

When I graduated high school in 1952 I was draft age. As a result all my close high school friends (6 of us) served in the military in one way or another. I joined the reserve . . . and within 3 years time I volunteered for 2 years of active duty. I was paid for this reserve time. My son (57 years old now) and his close high school friends did not serve because there has not been a draft mostly since my early days. It has long been my belief that we should renew having an ongoing military draft. It will help our country with military preparedness. It's good training for people that age . . . and I think most young people today need it. It will also help solve lack of employment opportunities for high school graduates. In the military many will learn jobs that are transferable to civilian jobs. For example Israel has a permanent draft where I think young people are required to give X number of years of service. I believe this includes woman also . . . but I'm not sure about this. It works well in Israel and people seem not to complain about the draft. Back when I was in the service (Navy) many college courses were available at no charge to us and the credits for passing these courses were mostly accepted by colleges and universities. This was a huge benefit to those interested in taking advantage of it.

Popular Photography was also my favorite magazine. I subscribed to it for many years. Today is also a significant day for as well, as I turned 90 on May 2. All the best to you and I hope you enjoy many more years of photography

Congratulations to you on your retirement. You and I are both almost extinct for having worked for the same company for so long (47 years for me). But we obviously saw benefits in staying. All the best to you.

Is the only way to avoid all of this . . . to literally move to "the woods" and cut off connection with mankind as we know?

I could not agree more. I also gave up doing color printing. I take all my (very little these days) to Walgreen's or a better place if needed. My Bother rotary serves me well with minimum of trouble and cost.

In about 1956 I bought a genuine Rolex watch with the Rolex metal band for about $50. from the small US Navy exchange on board the USS Boston CAG-1 when we were down in the Carribean for our shakedown cruise. I wore that watch for at least 40 years and then sold it to one of those traveling "road shows" that buys that kind of stuff for $300. This watch always kept good time . . . but the price to have it's internal cleaning rose to such a ridiculously high price that I decided to change watches to an electronic movement watch which does keep better time. So much for Rolex watches. Nice watches in my view, but not worth the prices they get for them. But people pay these prices because they want a "prestige" watch.

Sorry to hear about your trouble with electricity. Hope that it is now resolved. I am having a somewhat smaller problem than your problem, with ALEXA. Yes the one that turns our lights on and off, etc. This problem just started this morning and I don't how it will play itself out. Nothing I know how to do about it except just wait.

No . . . but I just received a email from a "so called" Pay Pal saying I owe them $661.99. Sure sounds like a scam as I have never ever had any kind of dealings with them. Has anyone heard of this one.

Interesting vehicle. But don't see much purpose for it other than to look at it.
