That pretty much takes care of a wide swath of issues.

This morning I read a thought provoking post by Steve Perry on his web site that opened with, “ Warning - you might not like what I have to say.” I thought it would be amusing to throw a match in that gas can. What do you think on the topic Is Technology Killing Photography?

The same day, Tony Northrop jumped on the same bandwagon. Such is the “AI Death Star.” Personally, with my lack of patients, I invite any technology that keeps me interested and encourages participation. And “no,” as someone said (sorry) I’m not going back.

I owned either a mark i or ii in the early 70s while living in Charleston, SC. Used to head into the woods and target shoot all the time. The pistol set me back about $50 back then. When we were transferred from there to Connecticut a couple years later, I sold the pistol for what I paid for it. Whenever I wander into Cabela’s or Bass Pro, I still head over to pistol counter and am tempted….. The mk iv ain’t $50 anymore….. 🥴

Incorrect, as has already been explained. It depends!!

My military retirement pay is taxable. The amount the federal gov't withholds every month is based on current filing status: single-no dependents. I tried to change that one year (back when I was receiving refunds of more than $600), but the system told me it was against the law to declare more dependents than I actually have.

So, tell me how you would get around that??

Linda…. you can’t do this? https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc410

I collect pensions from two companies. For one, I over withhold. For the other, as well as SocSec, I don’t withhold at all. I then adjust the withholding from my IRA RMD taken in December to address any potential shortfall from other taxable investments. Don’t you have the same option?

It’s all about comfort level. For years, my goal was a zero sum game at the fed and state level. Not an easy quest and quite honestly not worth the trouble. Then, after the house was paid for and various taxes and insurances became a first quarter of the year outgo. I decided another tactic was easier to manage. I knowingly overpay our withholding from retirement pensions and from annual IRA RMDs. And when I do my taxes, I know most refund $$$$ will be going right out the door after I get the money. Given lousy deposit interest earn-able, it really doesn’t make much of a difference.

For what it’s worth, a personal opinion. Most AI software I’ve tried/used including Topaz or similar imbedded in applications like ON1, etc tend to overcook the adjustment. None are “one and done.”
