Found an image of Popeye. They call her that because of her damaged eye. I have no idea how they know she is a she, but I believe!

I'm feel like a novice but I really like your pictures. My favorites are #1 and #3. Maybe because of the composition but also of the scene itself. I also like#2's soft water. Don't think I ever would have thought to do it that way. Nice effect.

She lived next to the fish market on the dock. I think they took care of her.

Very well done! We had a marvelous time on SJ, but made Orcas our base. I’d go back in a second!

Why are you using ND and a polarizer filter at the same time?

Thanks to those who suggested places to photograph on San Juan Island. I took my new (used) Nikon D810 and my new (used) Tamron 15-30mm lens to the island a few weeks ago. I used 145mm Wonderpana filters (ND1000) and polarizing filter on my Tamron lens. Loved the effect of the filters but found screwing them on and off all the time to be time consuming. The camera ended up having focusing problems so I have sent it back and should receive a replacement today. I would love to get constructive feedback on how I could improve these photos through post-processing, better composition, etc. and welcome these comments. I'm here to learn! Thanks.

Was there ~3 years ago - loved it. Your photos are excellent!

Did you see orcas when you were there?

Taxman, I did not see any Orcas but I hope to return and spend time on Orcas Island this time. Maybe then!

Best chance for seeing orcas is on San Juan Island, at the Lime Kiln Point State Park lighthouse.
