Thank you Susan for your input. That monument really sits high up on the cliff, commanding a great view but also exposed to the at times quite harsh weather, which will leave its marks on the rocks!

My french inlaws lived in Brest. It is a beautiful city, I remember going to the beach with my wife and them and gathering Begourneau (not sure on the spelling) but they are a little tiny snail and are very good with some wine and french bread and butter.

They are deceased now but my former brothers and sister in law's still live there and my former wife is now an American citizen. I still love them as well as France !
