American Classic, SS Impala
Your red 61 Impala SS takes me back 50 years to the summer of 1969. My friend Fred gave me a 61 Impala SS that needed work, a few days before he left for Nam. I got it running and driving nice, then rubbed out the faded paint by hand, then made the interior nice again. Then I drove it from northern Illinois to San Diego in August before college started. It was a great trip for a 17 year old. I drove it to the local community college. At the same time, I worked at a Mobil service station. I worked with a guy who came up from Missisippi to find work, with a family and walked to work 6 miles each way. I had been given a 62 Catalina by a cousin. I have to wonder if my 61 is still out there somewhere... Thanks for the memory.

I wish it was mine. Just a photo I took at a car show last summer. Glad it brought back those memories for you.
