I did quite a bit of research before I bought this sling pack. I can't believe the inexpensive price for the quality. I've had it and carried it everywhere I go since November and it still looks new. I wanted something easy to deal with and not scream steal me.

The inside is completely flexible. I have (from memory probably forgetting something). Nikon D5600 with 18-140 and sunshade attached, 70-300 VR lens, large GoPro speedlight, small kit flash, Canon point and shoot, Vivitar teleconverter and wide angle, two 3 count sets of filters and a jumbo Ziploc all in just the main compartment which is orange to show contrast. It also has an upper compartment which is large enough to hold an SLR body if desired. Zippers are harty and quite smooth. Side entry allows super quick but safe access.
I know this sounds like I work for Amazon but I don't and still find it hard to believe this bag was under 20 bucks on sale. 23 normal price. Small enough to go almost anywhere including under airline seat but big enough to hold most anything I need.

Do your own research but don't disqualify it for price.

Regional airlines have not only smaller size restrictions but quite often weight restrictions as well for carry-on. Despite all the recommendations, comments, and opinions you will get here, the only way you will know if you will be in compliance is to check the websites of the airlines you will be flying.

Troll or not, we have seen quite a bit of variety in what people are using and the reasoning behind it. I for one appreciate everyone’s comments.

Had the same problem flying from Atlanta to a small town in Georgia. Barely enough carry-on room for a purse. So I bought a wonderful travel jacket. See Weekender men's travel jacket on Amazon. It has pockets on its pockets. I sometimes lose stuff in it! Two pockets are big enough for telephoto lenses. About three more for shorter lenses. One fits a standard DSL body. You get the idea. I send the jacket (don't wear it) through TSA with all the gear in it. Never was asked to take it out. Put it on and zip up before getting on plane. Heavy, clumsy as all get-out, hot, I look like a baby whale. Meanwhile, my camera bag, stuffed with minor gear, my clothes, etc. travels as luggage.

You can't go wrong with a Billingham bag. They cost a bit, initially, but last long enough to make it worth the cost. I have both a Hadley Large, and an Fstop f/1.4, bag. Both are actually more like medium in size. Billingham has both smaller, and larger, bags. The 335 will work as a carry-on for a regular airliner. The Hadley Small Pro, Hadley Rucksack 25, etc, may be a better fit for a small plane. The 307L, and Fstop f/1.4, are being discontinued, and are out of stock at Billingham, but may still be available at places like Adorama, B&H, etc. The S4 is a good, smaller, bag. What will you carry in your new bag? Billingham bags are: well designed, well made, durable, customizable, highly weather resistant, and padded all around. Others-Domke, for example-are often not padded on all sides. Billingham has bags small enough for one pocket sized Point & Shoot, with some batteries, and bags large enough to carry three full frame bodies, along with five,or six, lenses, and every size bag in between.....something for everyone. I have tried Domke, Lowepro, and others, over the years, before trying Billingham. Since first using Billingham, I have bought nothing but. My first Billingham is nearly 7 years old, now, and looks, and works, like it is new. I have a lot of photo gear,
and need several bags for it all. I will be buying another Billingham-a 335-as a birthday gift to myself soon. I recommend you check Billingham.co.uk, and see if you don't find something there to suit you.

Hi keen: I see someone took exception to your post on Billingham bags. My only problem with your post is that now I desperately want one for myself. Checked them out on B&H and they are indeed a bit pricey. So I will now have to save some shekels up to make a purchase. The Billingham 335 looked the best for my needs. I will let you know when I have saved enough. If you decide to sell one used in the meanwhile, pm me. Regards.

The OP’s first post was less than 24 hours ago. He responded to others comments less than 12 hours ago. Many people have real lives they have to deal with and don’t center their lives around this forum. Just because he’s not keeping to a schedule you would like doesn’t make him a troll. It’s not even a post that would make sense as a troll.

By checking a bag.... it makes no difference on air carrier....Standard for ALL US air carriers... they will ONLY pay up to $2,000 USD for lost /damaged equipment.... If u have to check, do a valet check ...Air crew takes bag, gives it to the ramp rats...you get a tag or receipt...As u disembark the plane, ur bag is there

I have used: Tenba, Domke, Lowepro, and others, and been disappointed by each. Billingham is one system I have never had any complaints about. I tell it like it is.....so others who follow my advice will not have to learn the hard way, as I did. I get no commissions, or other benefits / pay from anyone. I have never seen anyone who could honestly dispute any of the things I say about Billingham. I answer the questions I am asked. I also have a wide experience of handguns, and will always recommend Walther for semi-autos, and Smith & Wesson for revolver use. For air travel, I recommend QANTAS....the best safety record in the business. I appreciate-and recommend-quality, effectiveness, and safety. Billingham delivers such better than any other bag I have tried. If you know of a bag which does as well, or better, do recommend it. Instead of fan worship babble, tell us how it is better. I mentioned durability, and customizability, for example. Do you know of a Billingham bag which is not durable, or able to be customized? If so, do tell us all about it.

I checked bags three times in my life, and each time ended in disaster, with stuff stolen, or damaged, or entire bags missing forever. I then made a point of never again checking a bag. I have since never checked a bag. I fit everything I need into one carry on bag...a maximum of gear, and a minimum of clothes. If I need more clothing, I buy it at the destination, and then mail it home before my return.

There have been some very good suggestions here but here is how I've delt with the lack of overhead storage space on small regional jets. I never check my camera equipment. I also tend to overpack with my laptop and tablet. The first thing they want to do as I board is check my bag there. I immediately inform them I have lithium ion batteries inside which I do, extra camera batteries etc. That has always changed their minds and they send me on. I have had to remove items and store them beside my backpack so that it would be low enough to fit in the overhead compartment. I can easily remove my laptop and items in ziploc bags. I tend to carry my camera in my hand even on a flight to Hawaii and back. They don't seem to count the camera as an additional carry on item. My wife insist on carrying a change of clothes, makeup etc. She just tells them that her medicine is in the bag, which is also true, and they have always let her on with her carry-on.

Thanks, Keen. I'm still looking. Can you comment on the difference between canvas and FibreNyte? Sometimes the latter is more expensive but sometimes the same. Any thoughts? Richard (nervous2)
