Enjoying our break in the Lake District we walked a mile along the road to the village to have a coffee. The house was built in 1859 and downstairs was used as a Sunday School. It is now a thriving coffee shop.
The medieval monks owned much of Borrowdale from 1208 farming sheep and growing wealthy on the thriving wool trade. They established their ‘grange’ or farm here. Some of the houses may be built of stone from their original grange. Many properties are made from local slate.
The small Holy Trinity Church was built in 1861.
I hope you enjoy seeing the properties in Grange and the views along the way.
