When we were there we we told to look for the yellow Xterra, because that was the car 'the wolf man of Yellowstone' drove. He apparently was a big part of the reintroduction of the wolves. Might be a different car now, but word of mouth gets around. Then it was Hayden Valley and Lamarr valley for the dens.

Firearms are not prohibited in the park. Shooting wildlife is prohibited.

I am glad to hear that. I thought firearms were prohibited in all federal parks

While you are in the neighborhood, you might want to check out the Oxbow bend in the Snake River at the Moran junction down by Jackson Hole. A great spot for wildlife (Moose) with a backdrop of the Teton range. very spectacular setting. Also the huge elk herd in the preserve just outside of Jackson (north) in Winter.
Lastly, look for the wolf (and other wildlife) tracking vehicles (the ones with the long whip antennas ) they will generally be following the packs in and around the Lamar Valley. Rich in San Diego (first time response)

Hey Folks,
I’m heading back to Yellowstone in early part of June, it’s been a couple of years since my last visit. My secondary purpose on this trip is to shoot Prismatic from the new overlook and early AM photos of Old Faithful and Grand Canyon Of Yellowstone. My primary focus on my 6 day trip will be devoted to shooting wildlife. Ive shot previously at Lamar & Hayden Valley’s and I’d really like any input on how to be most successful in capturing Bears, Wolves, etc in those areas or others that may not be as well noted.
Thanks- Brian

Here's what I would do, I would hike on foot through the park, take my gear, a sleeping bag and get up before dawn every morning!

Yes, getting up before dawn and leaving my trailer, yes, hiking on foot with sleeping bag through park, no.
