I was given a d5200 and a 18/55 lens. Is this a good camera? Thanks.

The D5200 was my first DSLR and I loved it. It traveled with me twice to Alaska, a couple of times to Europe, once to the Arctic, and to the Galapagos. Mine came with the 18-55 and 55-300 kit lenses. Since I’m a wildlife and bird photographer, I added the Tamron 150-600 lens. I only sold that camera after I upgraded to the D7200. My regret is that I didn’t keep it after I added the D500. If you don’t want yours, you can send it to me. It will have a loving home here.

Enjoy the camera!

The D5200, though, has twice the mp as the D5000. The 12mp D5000 should be a sufficiently good camera and print well at 8x10. It's not that different than the great D7000 which had 16mp. Use and enjoy!! BTW...it'll give you GAS.

It's a very nice camera. I have a d5100 that my wife mostly uses, but I kept it as a back up to my d7100. I like the easy menu and tilting view screen. That is one feature that I wish the d7100 had.

D5200; my first real DSLR. Have absolutely no complaints. Use it as a back-up to my other DSLR.

The D5200 is all the camera most people would ever need. I have the D5100 and it still serves me well after many years, the D5200 is even better. One thing I like about the D5xxx series is the versatility of the fully articulating screen, the built-in flash, and its light-weight. No other Nikon series has these 3 essentials for my shooting style.

Steve, I’m confused or I’m missing something. I havee a D500, not a D5000.
