The expat scene is booming in China. When I was first there in 1989 there were only several hundred Westerners in Beijing, now people are clamoring to go to the big cities, not only from the US and Europe but from all over the world. The scene in Shanghai is hot and jumping for foreigners. There are plenty of illegal immigrants as well, in Dumbei and Yunnan particularly. It's a bit harder in the West due to the Himalayas. Much better than a wall for keeping people out ;)
I was expat out there myself for quite a few years. Biz is absolutely on steroids. Nothing like in the west. It’s impossible to avoid becoming a millionaire out there.
